The 'BUSTER' front page depicts dangerous actions, but it's still amusing and funny........fireworks can be dangerous, sure, but this sort of stuff was a great comic 'event' at the time.

That Buster strip seems to be specifically telling kids what not to do with fireworks, though so it's quite responsible.

Nobody else thinks that burning an effigy of a person on a huge bonfire, and setting off celebratory fireworks to commemorate the death sentence of (who was regarded then) a freedom fighter?
Just me then.

Sometimes I do think GUY FAWKES had the right idea........
PS on NOV 5, 1969, my free GUY FAWKES mask from ' WHIZZER and CHIPS' was added to our home-made GUY and set ablaze, as was customary......this year, I forgot all about 'bonfire night' until the actual date...there seems to be a bigger build-up to Hallowe'en these days.........somewhere in England, this year, the outrageous act of projecting film of a bonfire onto a large screen [with sound effects and heaters strategically placed] seemed to sum up all that is wrong with the red tape/'elf-and-safety ishooz in our grate Nation.

After Tuesday's treason (the Lisbon Treaty getting ratified without us being allowed to vote in a referendum) I see what you mean.

I have never understood (or enjoyed) Guy Fawkes night , not sure about England,Wales, NI, but in Scotland it seems to get bigger every year granted sokme lovely displays at organised nights out . I was always slightly bemused at my comics making such a big deal about this - it does seem a strange thing to celebrate when you think about it (regardless of the rights and wrongs of his actions) after all it's celebrating the burning alive of a man. Ahhh the Lisbon Treaty , now that really annoys folk - lets see how the "election" of the European President goes down with some people

As it's 'that time of year again' I thought I'd take the opportunity to revive this thread - even if time and the internet have removed some of the earlier Geocities scans. To set the catherine wheel spinning once more here's the beginning of a nice Ron Turner strip from 1970 which I coincidentally stumbled across at a local boot sale just a couple of hours ago.
Does anybody else have memorable examples of Bonfire Night comics they're willing to share?
