Well done all of you subscribers! I was at the launch party down in London last night, very positive vibe all round (well, that stands to reason, doesn't it - you're not going to have a launch party with David Fickling going "Meh, whatever.")

Everyone attending was required to make themselves a name badge upon which they also speculated on what DFC stands for, there was face-painting for the kiddies and, in a moment I'm sure will end up in the papers somewhere, a bunch of DFC balloons were released over the Thames, 100 of which had vouchers attached entitling the finder to a free subscription.

David Fickling's speech mainly repeated what he's said in interviews already about his love of comics and his belief that this is the right time for a venture like this to get kids back into them. Nick Abadzis, currently producing "Cora's Breakfast" in the DFC bit of the Saturday Guardian, gave a short speech too (couldn't hear that one, I'm afraid - I was too far back. It probably went along similar lines).

So! All in all quite an exciting night. There were members of the press there, so keep your eye out for features about it over this weekend. Now if you'll excuse me, I've still got to finish off the last three episodes of the strip I'm working on... ahem!

I've also gone for the 13 week option...

I was nearer the front and thought Nick's speech was really good, coming from the perspective of someone who's been in comics quite a while and talking about those of us who have had to use our talents more for illustration and in the business world (like me!), and now here are opportunities opening up for our true love - comics!

Really enjoyed it... met loads of people (Rian Hughes!) and missed loads of others. It was quite an event. I lost Mark Stafford at the end of the night... I hope he turns up okay...

"YOUR SUBSCRIPTION NUMBER: To be advised by post."

Well, I subscribed Sunday and my number is around 2650, so that's 200 in 2 days.

If they keep this up and there'll 25000 of us by the end of the year - the golden age will truly be back with us!

That's about 2000 more than I would have expected they would get. Best of luck to them! I hope they make it.

I subscribed today, and am around number 3350. Good luck to the comic, lets hope it is a success.

Where can one find the 13 week option? I only seem to be able to find 6 months ...

EDIT: Ooh, don't mind me - just noticed that 13 weeks is now one of the options on the subscriptions page.

I hope they started at 1. When I ran my own business I started the order numbers at some arbitrary figure, like 1000. For exactly the reason that "order number 003" spooks customers.

Must be lower than that, as I got 189

Usually a few would be sent out to friends,kept as keepsakes and/or given to reviewers/media for publicity,so they did probably start at no.1 but more correctly probably about no.100 to actual subscribers......probably

less serials...just shows how good the 60's DC superhero comics were in the short stories...

It did feel like the stories were childrens books adapted to comic...
If it was fortnightly maybe we'd get into the stories more
