BOB MONKHOUSE was a professional comic strip artist as a young man, I'm fairly certain.....
the CLASH drummer 'TOPPER' HEADON was christened such by bassist SIMINON on account of his protruding lug-'oles [a' la 'mickey the monkey'].

Yeah I heard Bob Monkhouse was a comic artist in the 40s/50s - think he drew a UK superhero strip (among other things) called the Bat (not 100% ) Also think I heard that Rolf Harris dabled in comics when he was younger -More up todate Rob Zombie (think hes in some goth band) writes US comics as does the lead singer of the band My Chemical Romance (he's not bad actually Umbrella Academy is a good strip as they go)
