Hmm, I could see the "goth" crowd going for the Grim Reaper on a coffin-lid hoverboard. Maybe that new small press comic "Gothic" might be interested? heh. Or else Viz themselves if you added some other absurd concept (Like Benito Mussolini's hippy dad. What about the Grim Reaper's wife who tells him he isn't going out and collecting souls of the departed until he has finished the edging in the garden)

Anyway, I love the art. Wish I could do humour comics that good/at all.

Cheers mate, The same fella that did the Mussolini comic did one called 'p***ed up Grim Reaper' years ago, it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen in print. The Grim Reaper turned up at someones house drunk and mistakenly killed them, it was the 'acting' in the strip that was the funniest the guy who does it is brill.

I will look up that Gothic magazine cheers although perhaps its not dark enough? We shall see

Just a heads up, folks, Gothic isn't an ongoing magazine. It's a personal one-off project that was published by Dave Hitchcock showcasing his work. An excellent comic, as are all Dave's publications, but it's not an ongoing mag open to contributions.

More info on Dave's work, visit his blog:

I'd be a bit wary about doing the Reaper in domestic situations as that may be considered a bit old hat now - the Reaper is a semi-regular character in Family Guy and seen being bossed by his mother and trying to get a human girlfriend, etc. in it.

yeah i did a bit of an article for my blog about the characterization of death, the comic and potential comics are about representations of life and death just happens to be represented by the grim reaper, i tried to be original with the surf board thingy and in the next one cupid is going to be the main antagonist. i see what you mean though it is a bit old hat thats why im only using him in one strip

im not an idiot the caps button just wont work on this computer, i have no excuse for crap spelling though!!!

That's a relief. I am no Parlett expert (though would happily become one!) so take this with a pinch of salt, but as soon as I saw that horse I was shocked. RP's work stands out because he NEVER (to my limited knowledge) drew a character that looked wooden, or looked the same in two frames running. That is what mere mortal artists have to do, not our Reg.
Thats where I got the advice from.....every panel..character..different and not wooden.....
