I'd heard on the grapevine this wasn't going to happen now, although the planned third volume 'Escape from Aquatraz' is?

Anyone heard similar?

I'm afraid you're right, it's been mentioned in another thread that that book won't not be published. But it wasn't the second volume, it was entirely seperate.

Escape From Aquatraz is due out on 30 November according to Tesco

Just noticed that a third Nemi book is due out soon. As this is the third year running these hardback strip collections have appeared I guess we can consider it an annual.

Can anyone recommend something suitable for Christmas, annual-wise, for a four year old and an eight year old (both girls)? It will have to be available online. Cheers.

What TV shows do they watch? Dora the Explorer? Hannah Montana? Is the 8 year old in the Brownies?

The titles already suggested would be fine for a four year old, and perhaps The Beano Annual, The Dandy Annual and Derek the Sheep for the eight year old?

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks. The eight year old likes Tom & Jerry so that's a possibility. I was thinking of something along the lines of a bunch of Ladybird books for her as well, but not sure if they still make them! (Could always buy secod hand classics from the seventies which I remember enjoying myself - and recently picked up the Frank Humphris illustrated Battle Of The Little Big Horn on a nostalgia binge. Was not disappointed).

Are all of the above suggestions strip based or a bit of all sorts?

Charlie and Lola? As this means nothing to me I have to ask if it's a serious suggestion.

As per Digifiend, I'd suggested bearing in mind what they love in film and TV. Lots of eight year old girls are absolutely bonkers about Hannah Montana, for example. There's an annual for that (though I doubt it'll have any strips, and getting them into comics would be nice, too!) High School Musical is still very big with many young girls, though Hannah seems to be taking over.

I doubt your little girls would much like an old ladybird book on the Battle Of The Little Big Horn, though!

The Dandy and Beano annuals are all strips, as is Derek the Sheep. The latter was published last year but is still available online:

I chanced accross the Dennis and Gnasher Annual at the weekend. It has one of those 'spongy' covers that make it look thicker than it actually is. I didn't get time to do a page count though. Does anyone know if Thompson's are only doing this type of D&G Annual, presumably to tie in with the TV show?
