And what's more, I think they're topical because they appeared in at least the 1963 Topper Book, which I didn't buy a couple of weeks ago for only £20.
On a point of information, I'm pretty sure that Oor Wullie and the Broons went to reprints during the 70s for a time before Tom Lavery took over?

the Watkins reprints lasted quite a few years, Andy----maybe til around 1974, but I can't remember for sure.
There was a hyper-unusual OOR WULLIE BOOK [1973] with a cover by Bob Mc Grath of the Three Bears fame [with no real attempt to disguise his natural style!] during this transitionary period.....

The strips were altered slightly though to remove the heavier Scots slang and to remove references to the pre-decimal currency though. Plus a few strips had artwork altered to reflect the current trends of the time (best example of this is a story where Paw and Granpaw see 2 Teddy Boys flipping a coin to see who gets to take a girl to the "picters". When reprinted, they became hippies).
So technically you can say they were "new"
