I'd love to see The Yeti With Betty featured SOMEWHERE, even if they're just silhouettes in a crowd scene... One of my all-time favourite Beano strips and no-one ever seems to talk about them.

I love the Wallace and Gromit strips I hope they are in it. It would be nice to have have a few big strips containing a lot of the old characters. (Say the cover could include Big Eggo, Biffo, and Dennis fighting for the front spot or something like that.) That would definitely get me excited.

Well I know
one page that's in it because I'm drawing it right now, but the rest? I've no idea and I suspect few of us freelancers do. But I think it'll please readers.

Yes. Tee hee!
I know what I drew, and I know what I wrote and a couple of other little things...
I want to hint but I know I'm no good at hints and riddles and you'll probably guess in a minute.
Urrrgh! It's driving me mad! I just wrote a line that started "All I will say is..." then deleted it.
It'll be best if I don't spoil it.
All I will say is Bruce Willis turns out to be a ghost at the end.

I've seen about half of it, looking good to me. I've drawn some of it.

What's the chance of getting Leo Baxendale to do something for the 75th anniversary, if he is still drawing, and if he's still talking to DCT...?

Given that he spent most of the 80s trying to sue them for the rights to Bash Street, Plum, Minnie and the Banana Bunch... not likely.

He drew them a very nice Birthday card for the 70th birthday in 2008.

Status Quo were just on the Danny Baker show and one half of the band didn't speak to the other for around 30 years but they recently buried the hatchet and reformed for classic Quo gigs. I'd like to see a new Baxendale page or two.

Could someone tell the DC Thomson website designers to do some maths? They seem to have got The Beano's birth year mixed up with Dennis's!
The Beano comic has entertained kids of all ages since July 30, 1951. 75 years on and it’s STILL jumping with jokes, loaded with laughs and packed with pranks every week!

The Beano page itself (
http://www.dcthomson.co.uk/brands/the-beano) does have the right year.

I just posted on the unofficial Beano forum about the effects of the Dandy's demise on the Beano, and would we be seeing any Dandy stars in the Beano soon? Nika, one of Nigel Parkinson's colourists, quickly replied with "july 24". So now the anniversary issue sees a three way merger between the weekly Beano, BeanoMAX and the Dandy? Well, probably in the same manner as Beezer and Topper's absorption into the Beano and Dandy in 1993, but you get the picture.

I don't see Beano Max merging with the Beano as such, more reuniting as it was a spin-off in the first place. More as though Plug had reunited into the Beano instead of merging into the Beezer.

That's why I compared it to the Beezer and Topper. Neither of their names transferred over when they were effectively merged into the two surviving comics 20 years ago.

That's a big presumption you're making from one clue. What else is happening on July 24th?
