Lew, re. Sadistik. I've never been quite sure if Sadistik was an Italian reprint of the Turkish Kilink or an original. I'm ashamed to say that I don't have a Sadistik example in my collection, although I do have digital versions of Kilink, and I bought all the movies I could find, a few years ago. There is a short run Italian digest tiled Sadik (reprinted in France as Cobra and Naja) but it's a comic strip.
Diabolik did have a short run translated into English but wasn't a success. I'm afraid.
As I think a bit more about Sadistik, I remember seeing some issues of a French photo digest in Fantasmak in Paris - he specialises in digests - but I can't for the life of me remember what it was, apart from the skeleton costume. Couldn't have bought any anyway as I'd already handed over all my cash for other obscure delights. Those were the days before cards.
Found the reference and Sadistik was/is a reprint of Kilink . That's great. And it's Mort Todd. Thanks.

Heavy Metal renumbered every year too; got up to volume 36 in about 2012, at which point they moved to continuous numbering.

I would've extended the article title in the thread title by adding "currently published English" before the word comics, but I was stopped by a character limit. I did mention that specific info in the first post, but I see some people didn't notice, sorry if anyone was confused.

Yes I know that's what it's referred to as, but it is nevertheless a comic.

Surely 'longest running' and 'never been renumbered' can create a confusion when relating Beano with Commando as although Commando has reached its 5000th issue, due to its more than 4 per month publishing schedules in the past, it is clearly not as 'long running' as the Beano which outstrips it by some 23 years.

In this case, "longest running" means the number of copies without renumbering. If that had been excluded, comics that had only been running for five years or so could be included, so they had to find some defining phrase I suppose.

The problem with an article like this is that they really need to get their facts right (see their statement about the starting date for 2000AD being 1975) and they need to keep to the logic as they have included Looney Tunes which while notching up 140 issues over 23 years, it's not even close to being one of the longest running as they start going on about Looney Tunes being published in one form or another since 1941 so that is not exactly "never been renumbered" is it?
