Back in the early 2000s, almost every popular Britsih, american or japanese childrens TV series, seemed to have their own comic or a comic strip in another comic. I remember a cartoon network comic full of comics of cartoons from that channel. But since about the late 2000s they dont seem to even do that any more. My guess is that the growing popularity of the internet and the 2007 recession killed a lot of them off.

Off topic slightly but I was indexing a Wild West Picture Library this week and realised the story was exactly the same as the film Last Train From Gun Hill and that very film was on Film 4 the same day. I think the WWPL was Warrant for Murder and the last chapter was titled Last Train From Guthrie. Indexing another issue and that story also seemed like a movie plot but I couldn't identify it.

Just remembered that the BBC had their own version of Look-In called Beeb. I remember the sci-fi series Tripods was in it drawn by John Burns. I think I still have the first issue somewhere.

There was also an attempt by Steve Englehart and Gil Kane. Both projects have been collected into one book.

Just remembered another comic strip that was adapted for TV (well kind of). Nick Kelly from the Topper (also known as Send for Kelly). He didnt have his own show but he had a cameo within an episode of the 1996 Dennis the Menace cartoon. He appeared on a TV show within the show.

I just learnt that a Dan Dare TV Series was made back in the early 2000s.

From what I've read on
Wikipedia it aired on Channel 5 which is probably why I never knew it existed.
Its early 3D computer animation and from the clips I saw the animation looks very dated.
