Egghead did eventually appear in the comics - his debut was
Batman: Shadow of the Bat #3, in 1992.

Egghead, Bookworm, and Archer were all reused in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon.

Which episode of the second series is it in? I've got the DVD here and can take a screencap of it if i know which episode it's in.

I was listening to Steve Allen on lbc this morning (5am to 7am - I never sleep) and he was talking about that new series on bbc Fake or Fortune and he said one person turned up with a pile of comics. I never saw it. Also on Radio Five Live last night on Men's Hour they interviewed Jade Goody's ex husband (can't remember his name which is surely a good thing) and they asked him what books he read to his children and he said Roy of the Rovers which he grew up with. The Fake or Fortune is repeated on Thursday on BBC HD for the three people who receive it. Bring back channel 302 on the red button! Enjoyed Anna Calvi at Glastonbury - mean guitar player. Love her version of Jealousy.

haha...once again i am in awe at the knowledge of posters on here
that certainly seems to be right (and the date is right, that episode of Educating Marmalade was shown on 13th December 1982)

Well done, Bri, that date gave me a clue as to where to look for the Beano featured in the Marmalade episode, and it's the issue with the same cover date as Eagle (obviously someone sent a runner round to the nearest newsagents to buy a load of comics... those were the days). Unfortunately the actor holding the Beano (who I recognise from many TV shows but can't name) has his hand over the front cover, but I reckon the back page matches with the issue below.

I've just tried the first episode of S2 (what a strange show lol), and found that he's reading a
Whizzer and Chips. This episode was broadcast 13th September 1974

I just got myself a new set & DVD player! I will check my `Billy Liar` eps for the episode where he reads the `Sparky` soon as I can! I hadn't noticed the `Whizzer & Chips` clip-so well spotted Jacob!
