Wow! I'm chuffed you have taken an interest in my cartoons, Young Freddy! I'm very touched, flattered and impressed! My character is appearing on here alongside Ivy the Terrible and other greats......

You have also made history by being the only artist other than myself ever to draw any of my characters......I'm such a control-freak, designing/creating/drawing/writing/colouring/lettering everything in Baby Boomer myself, but I welcome your contribution with open arms, and in fact I will likely feature your cartoon on my blog very soon!

I've been working on a Billy Whizz strip lately and I thought it would be a good idea to put it up on here as I've never put any comic strips up before now.

This isn't an original story, I took the first Wayne Thompson Billy Whizz story and decided to redraw it in my style. My Billy Whizz style is based on Vic Neill's version, because I liked his style and it fits quite well with my natural style.

I did the same thing with a Graeme Hall strip a while ago (the one that was reprinted in the Beano a couple of years ago), but I felt the end result didn't look sufficiently different from the original strip. This time I think I've struck a better balance - the panels are similar to those on Wayne's strip, but interpreted differently.

I kept the script virtually the same, except there's no text box pointing out that Alfie is Billy's brother (I don't think any Beano fans on here need me to tell them this!) and I've slightly changed Alfie's dialogue in the third panel. In the original strip, he refers to Billy as 'Bro', but in my version he simply calls him by his name.

Anyway, here's the result:

Really good stuff Jonny Whizz, really looks like Vic's style! I can't draw like the great man himself, yet you're brilliant at drawing him!

the Billy Whizz page is pretty good, Jonny...good clear layout and overall clarity.

Very good for such an early effort...keep up the good work!
