I'd love to see a collection of the Judy strip - possibly the most beautiful heroine in comics history?

The guy who illustrated that text story for Tit-Bits is really amazing isn't he? I've come across him before but couldn't make out the signature (maybe 'Hubbard'?)

I bought a Princess Tina annual for little more than the cover price. Seems a bit unfair, really.

Just bought about a dozen 1960s comics at 99p each from a charity shop, including Sparky no.15 and the last-ever Hurricane (with the usual 'Big News for All Readers' banner!). I wish more charity shops would carry this sort of stuff; in my experience they mostly turn it down, explaining that it's 'too old' to be of any interest.

I bet a lot of such rejected donations end up in the recycling or landfill. I once saved a couple of annuals from being tossed in the skip.

I received five copies of Reveille from ebay today. No comics but they had cartoons by Phil Millar and Reg Smythe - probably some of his first.

Love to see the Reg Smythe ones...sounds very good..

They are nothing like his Andy Capp work. Rather bland really.

Got 30 issues of Striker from 1970 today from ebay although eight issues had defects but 22 issues for £41 is still good value. I thought they were like Score n Roar - a mixture of strips and football articles but the strips disappeared from issue 24. Issues were 2 to 31 but I already have issue 1.

A thought occurs. I'm currently hunting up Tammys and Jintys on ebay, so if anyone else is planning to bid on these titles in the immediate future, maybe they can send me a pm so we can work something out so we aren't directly bidding against each other.

I found and bought The Topper Book 1963 and The Dandy Book 1976 (for a mere £2.50 each).

Highlights of the Topper book are the full colour adventure strips Flip McCoy (the most appealing adventure art in the book, I think), Pony Express and Drummer Grant, and humour strips Figaro and Foxy.

The Dandy Book boasts a strong collection of artists, and some really lively cartooning. With all the characters in their classic design forms, it looks such a more appealing collection to me than the new annual with the traditional characters (not the ones by Lew and Mike) in their new-style grotesque/mutant, ugly looking incarnations. Quite a solid, classy collection with the characters looking especially good; a strong period for the Dandy Book, I think.

They came up with some fantastic double spreads, they really did. The bottom of the page was Chips and his pals playing all the same tricks on Beefy.

Today, having reached Somerset yesterday, I got the Beano Ultimate Summer Special No.3 in WHS in Yeovil today.

I had the Dandy Book 1976 when I was young, along with the Beezer from the same year. I thought they were brilliant! Or at least I used to read them over and over. Dunno if that was because I found the stories better or if I was just fascinated at having something so "ancient"
