What comics did you buy today?

I can only speculate that The Phoenix is running in "volumes", by year, and that shops with old issues kicking around have been told to just put them on sale rather than send them back at any point.

The other possibility is that if they don't return a copy by a certain date they can't return it to the distributor, and may as well leave it on sale if it's forgotten (marginal income better than recycling)

I finally won copies of `Blue` titled Dandy comics from Nov 1960 when the comic changed logo, increased pages -to 16 and gave free gifts (sadly, they wern't with the issues!) I wonder how long the blue Dandy title lasted-can't be long as i've seen a Dandy for late December 1960 and by then it was a red logo.

Bought a Shiver and Shake, a couple of issues of Whopee from the early years, the Sparky Book for Boys and Girls, 1977 through eBay as well as a BeanoMAX at the newsagent near where I'm staying, and I hope to grab a few more items tomorrow.

I am currently in my home suburb of Sydney (Newtown) and I have picked up issue No. 3663 of the Beano. Later on today, I am visiting a bookstore and see if there are any comics or annuals I'll be able to pick up.

Rather than Triple Posting, I visited Gould's Bookshop in Newtown (Sydney, NSW) yesterday, and I picked up an April 1972 issue of the Rover. I however ended up missing out on getting a few more. See the "What Comics DIDN'T you buy thread shortly for what I didn't get. I also picked up No. 3663 of the Beano yesterday,

Not today, but last night (so within the last 24 hours), I bought 4 Buster comics from 1990/91, on another auction I bought 11 Busters from the 80's and finally 2 Chips comics from 1980 (unfortunately, no Whizzer's with them).

Bought the most recent three issues of CLiNT on eBay for pretty much the price of one new issue. (Had a bit of a freak-out a few months ago and realised I couldn't afford to buy comics for a while, trying to plug the gaps now.)

Peter! The Two Dandy's came in under £20. One was bit battered-the other fair! The only strip that I could tell was new was `Corporal Clott` as it showed Clarence Clott signing up at an army recruitment centre! No Colonel Grumbly in the two issues! The `Clott` strip looked different to its later appearances-but i'm certain it was Davey Law drawing it!
