One of the new models is crowd funding. I just pledged to a comic project called Molly Danger at Kickstarter. It looks such fun, but looks like it might not hit the target without some last minute help.

Super-powered kid working for ACRONYM defends Generica from the Cliche-mechs. Ho-humm. Not for me.

Crowd funding has a few downsides - artists are usually bad at a handling a budget and tend to be over-indulgent without an editor or editorial input. But, with a few caveats, it is an excellent way to test out a project and it's commercial potential. I'm still not sure it offers enough for the potential investor to ever really take off.

I was using it to illustrate your point about new ways of publishing. This is one that's been in place for several years and has proved itself for those with a sufficient fanbase to support it.

News from Edgmont is that they plan to release several individual series digitally, rather than whole comics, and there's another Misty special on the list too.

Not quite what one might have hoped for, but if there's some success maybe they'll do more.

In a way that's why I continue to insert quotes the way I do, despite, or because of, repeated tellings-off from Phoenix. I suppose some might find it annoying but sometimes we seem to take these things too seriously. Apart from that, I look forward to seeing which e-releases come from Edgemont. Geddit? As I dislike footie, I wont order Roy of the Rovers but, were it to be something interesting to me, I'd buy it.

I am told that Eggmount are planning to release Charlie’s War, Johnny Red, and other stories from the Battle comic in the not too distant future.

They have already officially released collected editions of Charley's War. They are on sale on Amazon.

Presumably these are official e-books of some kind. I've always felt that British comics would be particularly suited to a format whereby one can either read complete comics as they were published or select an individual character or serial to be viewed in an unbroken sequence.

That's a very good idea. Technically possible, but to work on a tablet, it would need to be a self-contained app with the comics data stored in the cloud, as it would take up way too much memory to fit the whole thing on a basic tablet.

As some of you may know, the BBC are currently putting out an Amnesty [ie a request] for any good -quality recordings of radio broadcasts-------this was illegal to tape of course, but the BBC admit they are grateful they are accessing 'illegal' recordings which they are obtaining from home-tapers so digital copies can be made---even massive gaps from the early 2000s are missing from the archives!! Shocking, really......


so, going by this, is copying comics really a 'moral crime' if a legal one?
