I haven't received mine yet. I subscribed - for 13 issues - on Monday (the John Blake preview in Saturday's Guardian was the deciding factor; I love the idea of a new sea-based kids' strip influenced by Robert Louis Stevenson and Joseph Conrad) and I'm just hoping the subscription will still start with issue 1 as I requested, as it's full of serials.

Anyone know if The DFC will be offering back issues? I'm considering a subscription (I only usually buy the first 2 issues of kids' comics these days, but this looks a bit special) but could now only start the sub with issue 2.

Yes, Paul - there will be a back issue system in place.

i'd like to just tip my hat to the DFC having just bagged the first issue myself, it's an excellent tome, a comic that's driven by story and unpatronising to its readers, which in my humble opinion are two very important qualities. the enthusiasm and good will of everyone behind it translates into a comic that deserves to run and run and run ^_^

ps. my own story, Fish Head Steve, doesn't start till week 18 i believe. however i'm doing plenty of things in the issues leading up to that, these deadlines seem to keep piling on top of each other :p

I really enjoyed it too.

Genuinely good old style comic-mix of humour and adventure strips.

Hope it does well and appeals to people other than us old die-hards.

Have started showing to my neices and nephews-my own sons are just a too old but would have loved something like this when they were younger

Great first issue, love the mix of humour and adventure.
particularly like The Boss,& Good dog,bad dog.

Just read Lew's review and it makes DFC 1 look good (just as everyone else is getting DFC 2 I assume). I can feel a visit to their back issues section coming on.

I'm concerned that I've seen and read more on TV and in the papers about Gordon Brown's appearance in Captain Britain comic than I've seen about the DFC. But we can only assume readership has started strongly, and good word-of-mouth should bring the new consumers on board.

If you subscribe now, do you get the issues you've missed?

There's supposed to be something about The DFC on breakfast news or something tomorrow isn't there?

I subscribed a week ago Sunday and issue 1 and 2 arrived on my doorstep this morning, hurrah!

My issue 3 hasn't arrived yet from Friday...

My issues have all arrived 1 day late (on the Saturday). Overall, my sons (8 & 10) are impressed. The swearing - imho totally unnecessary and out-of-place in this comic. The stories - they are enjoying John Blake, The Boss, Vern & Lettuce, Puzzle Yourself Stupid and Good Dog, Bad Dog the most... quite like Super Animal Adventure Squad, Monkey Nuts, New At The Zoo and Mo-Bot high... they are not that keen on Spider Moon or Horse of a Different Colour.... Eldest not fussed about Doodlit but youngest loves art so he enjoys putting faces on and colouring it in! OVERALL - they want to continue with Beano, Dandy and DFC and drop Doctor Who Adventures from their regular comics.

Fortunately, so far, every issue has arrived on Friday. However replying on the Post Office always has its drawbacks.

I assumed the swearing in issue 2 was to show that the father wasn't a very nice character, but Pullman's experienced enough to know better ways to portray that. I do hope it just wasn't Pullman trying to be streetwise because if it was he made himself look like an embarrassing uncle trying to breakdance at a wedding.

Surely there should be an editor who would take resposibility for this kind of gaff?
The choice of language was an error. Consider the surrounding materials and who they are supposed to appeal to.
If anyone here had read that in The Beano or Dandy there should and would have been outrage.

Does the lack of DFC posts indicate the lack of interest?
