Speaking of vandalism, is it me or have we been overrun during the night?

Just checked them all, you missed three (two in the DFC forum and one in the Viz forum). Of course I reported them.

Re: Vandalism!
Now let's get back to how people decimate comics and annuals. I must admit remembering having to buy a second version of the first Warlord annual as I had cut out the calendar for that year. Arrrggghhh! Sacrilege when I think of it now, but as a kid, that is what you do. You think little of tomorrow and you sure as heck don't think about 30 plus years later. I wince when I see it now, but at least I can understand it.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Re: Vandalism!
I once bought a Speed annual in a shop for a pound without really looking at it, only to find several whole stories had been torn out. At least the remaining ones were complete. I also once put an Action annual back on the shelf because it'd had random panels of the strips cut out! Presumably for a kid's scrapbook.
Only once been "stung" on ebay and the seller was very apologetic about it. It was the 1899-1900 Chums volume, advertised as "appears to be complete"... apart from the first 250-odd pages XD. I got some money back though so it 'really' only cost about £5 in the end. And some of the serials are still complete plus there's plenty of complete stories.

Re: Vandalism!
In the 70s/80s IPC used to invite what we would now refer to as comic vandalism by regularly including posters of various descriptions, mini-comics and spotter books in the centre pages, or cut-out games. I was never a great follower of the DCT titles, but I get the impression that they didn't include anywhere near the number of cut-out features that IPC did. Am I right?

Thanks Peter but no, after this I'm definitely out of here.Peter Gray wrote:Hope you keep reading the posts on here Lew...I'm sorry its all gone a bit too serious..
I'm sure you will be back..after your breather..
I post here for a few minutes breather from work and other real life stuff, for fun, and hopefully to share some of the crumbs of comics knowledge I've picked up over the years. (Just as most of us do.) This used to be a great forum. Now, due to an increasing number of individuals who are either p*ssed on strong beer when they post, have forgotten their medication, or have other issues affecting their behaviour this isn't such a pleasant place to visit. Life's too short to tolerate people like that on a forum for funnybooks!
Thanks to the good guys of the forum who sent me messages. I'll keep in touch.
Update 15/6/2011: Thanks for the support. However as I said on this thread, no one should be banned on my account:

Re: Vandalism!
lew tell the mods to ban them or if it was me i would name & shame them without hesitation people like that are scum who cant respect the opionions of others & think only thier opinion counts & they are right no matter what, especially a respected comics professional.i know whose posts i would rather take part in and read
Re: Vandalism!
I don't know you personally, Lew, but I've read your stuff on the internet for a while now and, as well as enjoying your advice and knowledge of comics history, I've always admired your bravery when expressing opinions.
But I don't think we're talking about the mild flame wars started by your views on censorship etc.
I haven't been a member of this board for long, but I've already come across some of the illiterate idiots who post here. We all know who they are. Mods - do your job. There are editors, artists, writers and comic experts on here and for this board to stay viable, the trolls need to be put in their cages.
Sorry to see you go, Lew. And I hope you come back...afterall, you contributed nearly 10% of all the posts on here, and a bigger percentage of the posts worth reading

Do come back soon Lew...I am gutted what has happened..
I also agree you some how Lew able to see beyond our fans eyes..I'm one that likes the new Dandy and the old so I just enjoy funny...But you are often saying about how different things have been from Comic Cuts...Chips...Eagle...30's..40's 50's etc.. Beano and Dandy and how it does change...I admire how you can look forward to the new and not always long for the past..

Re: Vandalism!
I just have to reiterate that I am stunned at anyone sending an email like that , there is never a need for that type of thing we're all supposed to be adults on here after all. Lets not name and shame anyone, perhaps the person/people concerned will have the decency to apologise to Lew as Peter suggests - a very sad state of affairs that has resulted in the forum losing a decent, knowledgable and highly respected guy in Lew (and others it seems).
