I'm not at all qualified to comment on the artists, Peter, but it might be worth pointing out that both the Oor Wullie annual and The Broons annual that I scanned state on their respective front covers, Selected from the Sunday Post and earlier Oor Wullie/Broons books, so it doesn't necessarily follow that Watkins didn't draw all the pages. Equally, he might only have drawn a handful.
