Tonight's episode of Heartbeat..the one where the hippies pitch up there tents on the farm land belonging to David...a 1960's Beano was being read by the young policeman at the station...the letters were on the blue sideways D shape..

Just had a photogrpahic memory flashback related to this & wondering if any one remembers:
On early editions of Saturday morning kids show No.73 - shown only in the TVS region - Harry would invite viewers to the bathroom where he'd sit on the lav (seat down, not doing business) and share a comic he was reading with viewers, taking them through the story.
Also on the Tiswas replacement "The Saturday Show" there was briefly a feature called "What The Comics Say". I think I remember one where a kid was telling host Tommy Boyd about what was in that week's Buster.
Apparently that feature was included in the original pilot hosted by wrestler Big Daddy & called "Big Daddy's Saturday Show". However Big Daddy pulled out of the show the day before transmission "on Doctor's orders". must've known this was a poor Tiswas replacement.
All strength to Saturday Superstore viewers (when No 73 took over the winter networked slot - too little too late, SS had its loyal viewers).

There was a dreams come true feature on a Saturday kids program in the 80's and the boy appeared in The Beano with Dennis the Menace..
I rmeember one person saying his dream was to see the ad break and he did...what a waste of a dream come true..

there actually was an Australian eagle comic in the 1940's

although it may have been the Australian edition of Eagle which lasted a few years but definitely was published post '50!

Just put tonights Dr Who on & he is reading the 1981 Beano summer special while listening to the specials ghost town, classic tv moment
Im sure someone will post a pic as i aint got a clue how to do it

Maybe they reprinted it especially? It was meant to be brand new after all, the scene takes place in 1981.

Or perhaps it was loaned by or bought from a collector who had looked after it? I'm sure many of us have comics much older than that which are still in superb condition.

Or it could have been a good photocopy of the cover with blank paper inside. Did we see the insides? My 80s Summer Specials are all still brand new. Everything I have is individually bagged. Comic wise that is.

Interesting to see that the logo was originally to have had an inner line before it was decided otherwise and the process white was used to paint it out.
Nice to see the original art. These days, most of us either finish our pages in Photoshop or draw them entirely with digital methods, so the physical pages are either half-completed or non-existent.

Reg Parlett's creepy Comix..theres cut out bits..tippex..and drawn in two halves...4x as big..
it will join my Cliff Hanger by Jack and Lew Stringer's Tom Thug original..;0)
