Not got them yet but in about 2 hours time when I get to Glasgow tonight, I am collecting 200 Rovers.
Happy days indeed!

I got back yesterday afternoon from my eight days in London looking after my two little granddaughters too late to go to the local Post Office depot to collect the to-be-signed-for parcel from Phil Shrimpton that they couldn't deliver, so I picked it up today. It contained three issues of
Bunty with their free gifts, and the
Bunty Summer Special for 1973.
While I was in London I spent roughly five hours in the British Library listing the content of all the issues of
Tracy that I haven't got (7), and of
M&J (rather more than 7), so I now know the starting and finishing issue numbers and dates of all serials in all issues of the ten titles I am researching. I also noted down the content of the
Bunty Holiday Specials for 2000 to 2003, and that, incredibly, appears to be all they have. As I now have 26 of them plus complete notes from the four mentioned above, I still need 12. If anybody out there has any of the 12, and would be prepared to list their content for me page by page please PM me. The issues I'm seeking are 1963 ; 1964 ; 1966 ; 1968 ; 1970 ; 1971 ; 1978 ; 1979 ; 1991 ; 1995 ; 1996 ; 1997. Colour scans of the front covers would be nice too!!

Bonjour! Honorary "Comics France" post today. I am in Paris, where I discovered a great comic shop named Aaapoum Bapoum. I bought the xmas issue of "Tintin" from 1961, some copies of a Marvel reprint comic from the 70s/80s called "Titans" with fabulous painted Star Wars covers, and a copy of "Story" from 1950 featuring Popeye, Mandrake, Johnny Hazard, L'Homme Masque, and Les incorrigibles Pim, Pam, Poum. "Les plus belles histoires par les meilleurs dessinateurs du monde".

paw broon wrote:Adam Eterno writes about Radar #1, and nice wee pocket library it is too. This was an Italian series. As I'm just home from hospital and can't move around much or lift things, I can't get to the British Guide, so I can't tell you the length of the run but itdid change title later to Wonderman but the comic still featured Radar stories. I am fortunate enoughto have a small selection on my shelves. Well done.
I haven't had a chance to read it yet but thanks for the info. I must do some research on it as well. Hope you're feeling better and are up and about soon. Funnily enough, I only managed to find and buy the comic as I was laid up after returning from a brief stay in hospital so spent the time on the web!

ah, adam, when it comes to a point I've outbid a fellow poster on this site (re: Rampage no.2 with free gift) I can only say: "Sorry." I wanted it badly. It rarely comes around; next time, you may get it for far less. It's one of those issues that you could get for less than £15. Have patience, it will come up again and, then, I won't be bidding. All the best.

received a good bundle of Toby nursery comics from the second half of 1977 from which only one issue had the dreaded puzzle page filled in. All nice, clean copies which, at a tenner plus postage, is a snip. I know I invariably pay over the odds for my wish list, but this gain was a gain

Jumping the gun here but, in the next few days, i'm expecting a bundle of Topper comics from which there will be 31 issues from 1977. I posted earlier how difficult they were to collect. Cost me £35 (postage included) and I have a few issues from 1976 and 1978 thrown in, so well chuffed. I really thought that this title would be tough to crack... now, let's be having you "Beezer"! Sooner or later, i'll have you all

Got the comics, but it's more like 75
Rovers and 125
Wizards. Not complaining as it was still an absolute steal.
Also, Jim "Ganjaman" Stewart had found some comics that he thought I would like and they were
Best of 2000AD Monthly issues 4 and 6. And it was appropriate that both feature some fine examples of Ron Smith's art. And to top it off, I also got a copy of the fanzine
Fusion issue 4. Which is the one where Grant Morrison hand coloured the eyes. I was more impressed that it has a review of
A Haunt Of Fears by Martin Barker.
And then I got my birthday presents of
Oor Wullie and The Broons: Oor Family History which I have enjoyed immensely. And I also got a book that was on my "to buy eventually" list which is Alan Moore's
Lost Girls. All in all, a profitable 24 hours.

Don't let Iona see it, Col. She'll ask too many awkward questions.

The Wasp That Started World War Three: two 1965 issues of TV21 with episodes of the exciting and somewhat silly "Fireball XL5 stranded in 1966" story. I suspect this one was ripped off for a Star Trek episode.

TV Comic #1 and #2......the beginning of a 34 year run of almost 1700 issues arrived along with the full set of 148 Marvel Avengers comics with gifts. Going to sort through the Avengers this weekend to upgrade my existing set but they look in fantastic condition!

Finally had delivery of a winning lot from Compal: Boy's World 1, Buster 1, Junior Express 1, Junior Mirror 1, New Record Mirror 1, POW! 2, 3, Swift 1, Top Spot 1, and WHAM! 1. I'll be keeping the Buster, Wham and Top Spot comics as they were the ones I was after. I'll have a read through the rest before putting them onto Ebay.

wow that is ridiculously cheap, Ed! I am sure it will be well worth it.
Tell you what I bought meself as a Christmas treat--not strictly comics, but most definitely UK Cartoon material that sold in the Millions:
BAMFORTH COLLECTION: SAUCY POSTCARDS, by Marcus Hearn
This is a small-scale hardback book , 7 inches by 7 , that goes over the naughty seaside postcard Industry, an aspect of British Life I have dearly loved for many years.
Contains many real-scale reproductions of the postcards themselves---some familiar but this has more than enough rare material to appease the true enthusiast.
Picked up a second-hand copy [passes for brand-new to me at least] for just over 4 quid including postage...rrp price 12.99 ---I have put this aside until Christmas Day.
