I've just posted an item on the Cheeky Weekly blog which reminded me of a device that has been used a number of times in comics over the years - an elephant being terrified by a mouse. However, it seems that this ISN'T something that happens only in comics -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpTSA_25wGE. Well,
terror might be putting it a bit strongly,
wary is probably a better description of the reaction.

Another thing I noticed today is readers who send in a photo of their pet which they have plonked down in front of the relevant comic and say "Here's my pet rabbit, Bugs, who likes reading Bunty" I reckon its happened in just about every title.

Niblet, ever played the SNES/GBA game Donkey Kong Country 3? Ellie the Elephant can't run past the Sneek enemy, because it gets scared (you have to avoid getting in the mouse enemy's line of sight to progress). One level even has a group of Sneeks just after you transform into Ellie, meaning that she stampedes, and you can't stop until just before the end of the level (you can only jump to dodge or kill enemies and avoid pits).

No, I've never played it. The last computer game I played was space invaders - the games got way too difficult after that.

Haha, see also a baby with "here's my little cousin/brother/sister, we start 'em young round here"

Heh. Well at least that game I mentioned shows that elephants being scared of mice isn't just a comic thing.

Hero/Antihero (Dennis, Minnie etc) being told by Dad to redecorate their bedroom with flowery wallpaper. Said character is reluctant to embark on the project, and much paste-based hilarity ensues. Eventually character emerges, beaming, from bedroom and Dad looks in to find...yes, they've wallpapered their room with copies of The Beano.
Did anyone ever do that in real life? I'd imagine the paste would make the strip from the other side of the page show through.
Judging by this link

There's a local charity shop that has done it with their book-shelves and while my first thought was
SACRILEGE!, it has come to grow on me as I move the books to spot the comic and figure out when the comic was around

Nice pic of the toilet wall covered in comics - it prompts me to think of suitable strips: Ballcock Boy, Basil Toilet Brush (TV Comic), Flush Gordon, Wee Willie Haggis, Trough of the Track, Charlie P1ss. Any others?
This just in:
Toilet pop song: S-Bend The Night Together.

Here's something that I've seen in comics a number of times over the years - dogs running off with dinosaur 'bones'.

Was there
ever an occasion when a humour strip featured a sports day/sports meeting and the trophies
weren't stolen?

Mike Lacey sure keeps the action going with different angles...and the spinning movement..
good point about the sports day..and dinosaur bones
Its impossible to be quiet in a library.or resist walking on the grass despite notice..
