Brendan McGuire wrote:A Dream of Wessex should be more widely read. A brilliant book.
You were so right, Brendan. I finally got round to reading this Christopher Priest novel a couple of days ago and I have found it almost unputdownable. It is very challenging at a conceptual level, with all those layers of experiences within personal and corporate dreams and memories of dreams, and the ability to manipulate them as well, but it is also very satisfying at the level of plot. I was a mere twenty pages from the end before I could hazard a sensible guess as to how it would finish, and I still got it wrong! I can genuinely recommend this highly original story to any sci-fi enthusiasts who have not yet come across it. I'm now definitely going to be on the lookout for a copy of The Separation.
