Looking at the above post I see that I did not really talk about my early UK stuff, I have lots (but incomplete) of issues of titles like Buddy, Spike, Victor, Warlord, Emma (yes I liked girls titles ok!!! ? and even read most of the Chalet School novels as a kid), Tammy etc,. I regret never sampling Misty as a kid. I read and later inherited my sisters Look-In collection.
I have filled in gaps since the Internet came along but have still not completed many series.

Earl, I have some spare new Eagle weekly's, what dates are you after?

Nice to read of other people's obsessions!

I have a lage collection of 2000AD's and 80's Eagle (and Wildcat), which are ALMOST complete just missing a few issues from each. When my next obsessive phase comes along no doubt I'll hunt them down.

I'd also like to collect all of the Battles and Actions.

But I quickly became aware that much as I'd like to collect a lot of IPC/Fleetway stuff, the money and space was a real problem. So now only if by chance I should come across a huge pile of comics cheap (unlikely these days) I'm probably not going to get involved in more.

However... I would happily buy collections of my favourite comics in the style of the Judge Dredd collections out at the moment (a years worth of strips in a volume). I've happily bought the collections of Charlies War, The Spider and the Steel Claw. These things sit on my shelf, look nice, don't need to be put in bags or boxes and its easy to take them off and read em.

A shame it's not commercially viable to produce more of this stuff.

hmmm...the fun i had [not really fun in the strictest sense] tracking down every issue of battle with johnny red in it. i got to the point where i thought "oh sod it, why don't i just start at no.1 and take it from there". so i bought up to 1987 when JR finished, expanding my own collection from late 1977 [action merger] to april 1979 when my brother stopped getting 2000ad so i bought that instead. got a good deal on several full years from austin's collectables [?15 odd per year], and recently sold off loads of doubles.

i also have two full runs of pre-ban action with free gifts, a full post ban run, starlord, 2000ad and warrior complete, all the valiant that john wagner did as editor up to the battle merger, crisis, revolver, toxic and a few odds and sods i can't remember.

my US comics collection has had its ups and downs, but i kept the ones i liked, and have 27 years of batman and detective complete from 1980, plus all the 'good' vertigo titles from when it began like sandman and such.

OFF TOPIC SLIGHTLY BUT I PICKED UP DOZENS OF ISSUES OF JINGLES AND TIP TOPS FROM THE 50S IN SUPERB CONDITION AT A LOCAL MARKET ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO - ABOUT 50P EACH! SADLY AT THE SAME MARKET I CAME ACROSS A BOX OF ABOUT 50 DISC AND MUSIC ECHOES POP PAPER FROM 1969/70. Judge Dredd Megazine (234 +) Complete
2000AD (1524 +) Complete

I have ALL annuals / specials associated with 2000AD & Judge Dredd. Plus lots of other bits and pieces Beano, Nutty and about 50 ist editions from the early 80's. 3,120 comics / annuals and growing at the last count.

I have always collected full runs as it's fun finding the last one to complete your collection. Just completed Buddy and Crunch recently specialise a bit on late 70's early 80's as this was my childhood era.

One thing I want to ask is why do more people not have 2000AD collections I have always loved reading them and spent years completing my collection as I only started reading them in 1985.

For the same reason that not more people have comic collections. One guy I know is restricting himself to Victor from 1 to 800 as his Mrs won't allow him to have his comics out where 'normal' people might see them. My 1st wife was the same.

Fortunately, I got it right with wife no 2! Reading the comics, I am surprised that so many have the later Hotspurs as they were truly a mixed bag but so few have collections of the 70's Wizard as that was fantastic with art by Gibbons, Ezquerra and Kennedy

This is what I've got

Beano: Over 1600 issues from 1963 to 2007

Dandy: Same as Beano but with over 1400 issues

Topper: Nearly every issue from 1983-1990 but some of the old tabolid ones too. Earliest 1967

Beezer: Nearly every issue from 1984-1990 some pre 1985 issues too.

All but 5 of the Beezer and Topper comic from the early 90's.

Every DC Thompson comic annual including Oor Wullie and the Broons since the 60's. I also have the 1953 and 59 Dandy annuals and the 1958 Beano Book.

I also have some Nutty comics, A few Hoot comics and 3 Sparkys but I also collect TV listing magazines too.

I have over 1300 issues of the Radio Times and a quarter of TV Times magazine (most are ones when they only had ITV and Channel 4 listings).

I also collect some football programmes but only 1 to 4 from each English and Scottish club and some internationals but I do have at least 65 Aberdeen FC programmes since I am a Dons fan.

In total, I must have at least 60 boxes of magazines and comics in my family's loft.

Jumping into this one a bit late. I don't know WHAT I've got, but my girlfriend wants to go through them with me & document them...

That being said, being on the other side of the world from almost all of the rest of you it's not as easy to collect British comics, but I try.

I originally collected Buster for just over a year from late 1990 - 1992 but only in the past few years got back into it after seeing Matt's site.

I finally tracked down a copy of the last Eagle Weekly I needed for the full set of 472 weeklies. Now slowly onto the monthlies...

Congratulations Earl. I have eventually done the same with Starlord and the solitary Summer Special. Only got the Annuals to go on that one.

Just wondered if you thought about trying e-bay? I got all three of my Starlord annuals from there, very reasonable too. Missed out on the 1982 one going for ?15 didn't win it as PC crashed then ended up getting it for ?3.99, that included the postage!
