Get Up and Go is on the remastered 2006 cd version, Steve---it was mooted for the original 1978 vinyl release, but cancelled after Lennon pointed out it was far too similar to Get Back [he had a point].

I expect the Rutles cds would be found under 'comedy' in Hmv: also, if you have Spotify, it's all on there, including the Anthology-inspired Archaeology.

I've purchased a copy from ebay. I also bought four ELO albums yesterday at Greenwich. I had all the albums on vinyl when they were released and, seeing Jeff Lynne playing all those songs again on tv last week, made me remember how good they were.

Back to retro tv and I caught a bit of the New Avengers on ITV4 this morning and it was the episode with Lewis Collins and Martin Shaw. It lead to them being cast as Bodie and Doyle in The Professionals. Same programme makers.

yes, ELO are a mainstay on BBC radio today: it seems that one of their songs must get played every single day on Radio 2 nowadays: Jeff Lynnes' royalty cheques on Mr Blue Sky alone must be massive: it turns up in Hollywood films a lot, al these years later.

Department S a show that never really capitalised on its potential and the Jason King spin off wasn't much better either of course this is only my view and a new Dads Army film is being made and from what I've read it could be good just hope it's not a load of rubbish like most modern remakes of classic films/ tv series

Department S had the best theme tune of all time save maybe Mission Impossible.

The Sweeney's opening and closing theme music has always been a fave of mine with sublime drama in between too

I liked the later downbeat version of the Sweeney theme, played in slow-motion at the closing credits stage, with close-ups of Thaw and Waterman in profile having a ciggie.

Most of you may know this, but when Danger Man was shown in the USA it was retitled Secret Agent and had a brand new title sequence and theme tune:

The Avengers and Man In A Suitcase both had an instantly recognisable quality about them and they are both cracking themes too

Speaking of TV Themes, I think Department S is one of the best ITC series them tunes; also loved that one for The Baron.

I recently was thrilled to hear on You Tube a tape recorded snippet of the 1971-75 theme for Grandstand - my first memory of this show was that theme & being a bit shocked when the new one from Keith Mansfield came in 1975 - and stayed with the show to its end.

Thios particular theme was by Barry Stoller, who also did the more successful Match Of The Day theme.

Felt very nostalgic on hearing that small snippet. Shajme the full theme isn't available on CD.

JUst thought I'd mention there's a great new Retro TV website recently opened - called the BBC Genome Project it shows the TV and radio lisitings from every edition of the Radio Times from its beginnings to end of the noughties.

It's great to look at what was on when or if you are trying to remember the name of that TV show you saw on BBC but can't remember what it was called.

Its a truly addictive site.

It is a good site and I now know that Ulysses 31 came on a Thursday instead of a Wednesday because for some reason I always thought it did

Talking of animation The Mysterious Cities Of Gold and Thundercats had the best theme tunes IMHO
