My Valiant comics turned up yesterday......all 5 boxes! I've only managed to spend an hour or two with them so far and they seem to be in great condition, all at least VG and only a very small percentage with writing on them which I'm really happy with. There's also the free gift from #2 included. I've just spent a packet on containers to store them and I've virtually decided to put the Battle/Valiant issues back on Ebay but it's a great feeling to have the complete set of Valiant finally!

Only one comic purchased in the last 5 days which was Victor #577 to complete 1972 for me

In Deptford market today I picked up a very nice copy of the DC vault for a mere £3. I'm off work for a few days as my dear mum passed away on Monday

That sucks, Steve. All I can do is echo what others have said and say that I'm very sorry to hear that bad news and also offer condolences. I lost my Dad 11 years ago, so I can understand what you must be going through right now. :(

Sorry Steve. My mum and dad have both been gone a long time now but they are still much missed.

Mine too, but happily they had a reasonable amount of time to get to know our children.

With you on that Steve, having lost mine in January. Don't be afraid to take all the time off work you need. I went back a bit too early and then had to have more time off though OK now.

My condolences Steve and I agree with the advice to take as much time off as you can.

I agree I had a similar experience when my father passed away a few years ago , the british stiff upper lip etc, went back to work early trying to get back into a normal routine as soon as possible.not fully realising how emotionally effected I was, anyway back to today.

went in Oxfam and got---
EAGLE CLASSICS PC49 Hawk books 1990 --£1.99
Oxfam which I used to think of as expensive seem fairly reasonable with their prices of late.
They have a number of Comics World magazines at 99p and the one that interests me the most as an article on Frank Hampson( DanDare) but I don't wish to pay 99p for only two or three pages I am interested in.
Later in the morning went to an RSPCA CARBOOT and got
graphic novel TALE OF THE BODY THIEF 20p
graphic novel THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLE MEN VOL1 20p
plus two charlton comics at 50p each.

Having bought so many comics from charity shops this year I was suprised I didn't get a mention for a gong in the Queen's birthday honours like a CBE ( does that mean COMIC BUYERS EXTRAORDINARY?) Anyway I expect with so many people getting gongs over the passed few years I must have moved further up the list :D

I went to Deptford market again today and bought nine daily graphic overseas editions (each one a weeks worth of papers in a new cover). All from 1947. Wasn't aware of the severe winter at the start of 1947 which almost had England in a state of emergency. Also got a 1972 radio times special 50th anniversary issue and some great newspapers reprinted including a mint copy of six comics of world war one. £25 the lot.
