For anyone that hasn't noticed, the Roger the Dodger strip this week is along the same lines as the Dennis the Menace strip last week in making out that Rogers Dad is the Roger the Dodger we read as a kid.

The same hairstyle and him showing Roger his old Dodge books really makes him look like he is.

It's a good idea but I do worry it does kind of ruin the stories in the long-run slightly. Particularly as this now means Dennis' Dad and Roger's Dad are called Dennis and Roger!

I see Dennis has a new title panel. At least it still says The Menace on it, even though they're using the 2009 TV logo.

It's basically the same one they have been using on the cover the past 2 issues just with Dennis the Menace and Gnasher on top of the logo.

The flaw to my theory is that becoming a father seems to affect their IQ. Look at what happened to "Dennis the dad" just this week. Can hardly see that happening to the real Dennis whatever his age. :D

They'll backpedal eventually, though, and bring back the "timeless" (IE so old it doesn't matter) designs. Just look what happened to red-and-yellow Minnie!

We'll if it is the Dennis of our era he's definitely getting his comeuppance now.

Who was the Numskulls artist this week?

It didn't look like Barry Glennard.

Looks like Barrie Appleby to me. You're right that it's not Glennard, he signs his work and this one isn't signed. Appleby doesn't sign his work.

Colin the Vet is in this issue. He appears on the inside cover.

Also Little Plum talks about being a member of the Puttyfoot tribe when he is actually in the Smellyfoot tribe. Also a character called Smellyfoot appeared in the Little Plum strip a few weeks ago.

Actually, it's Chiefy who says that. Regardless, someone screwed up! (Not Andy Fanton though)

A few points about this weeks Beano.

I know comics have to have advertisements these days but is the last 7 pages of the comic (upside down) really necessary, a page of the short strips and Calamity James had to make way.

Who is the Bananaman artist this week? It's certainly not John Geering and is it even a reprint?

Also just for a laugh are they saying Minnie the Minx has jumped 2 generations now and the original Minnie from the 50's is now her Gran?

It isn't uncommon for older generations to look similar, or even alike, to their kids, grandkids, great-grandkids....

If it helps to fund the comic, yes. Although I don't know if I'd feel the same if it was Rasher that had been dropped for a week.

The reason it's a flip cover is because that back part of the issue is basically a mini-mag for Lego. Also, when some store assistants shove the comic in the shelves upside down (as they often do) it'll hopefully attract the attention of kids interested in Lego, - who will then hopefully also become interested in The Beano and start buying it regularly. Worth trying, yes?

I think it's new, considering the scratch and sniff feature. No idea who the artist is.

For the second week in a row, Barrie Appleby is drawing the Numskulls instead of Barry Glennard. I wonder if that's permanent?
