Wait, didn't the first revamp issue hit shelves at the end of October last year? I have the 27th etched in my brain, for some reason.
Also, thanks for the nice words about this weeks George vs Dragon, chums! Hopefully my complete lack of footballing knowledge didn't hinder things too much

You're correct Andy, I'm afraid James got it wrong. The revamp happened on October 27th 2010 meaning a bit longer to wait sadly!

A good issue overall, this week's had some highs, George VS Dragon, My Own Genie, Postman Prat, The Bogies and Rocky's Horror Show. As well as some VERY lows, DIY JLS, Madvertisement and Knock, Knock!.
The front cover was brilliant this week not only being a Desperate Dan cover by the amazingly talented Jamie Smart but also a brilliant one panel joke (Much better than the jokes used in things like Knock, Knock! and Are you Ready for the Question, Noel?). Two things I felt a bit annoyed about this week's front cover was the strangely coloured Dandy logo and the character list at the bottom had disappeared, instead replaced by Harry Hill (once again hanging around the bottom of the front cover.)
However it may please Nigel to hear I found this week's Harry Hill quite funny! While I think the strip really didn't need the first page, I still found the story enjoyable to read and liked the artwork. (I didn't get some of the jokes though)
Elsewhere Bananaman had an all-too-short adventure only lasting a page, but a funny story nonetheless. Mr Meecher had me chortling to myself after reading the 'Housepoint to Jack for answering the register "Yo, blud.", genius comedy by Will Dawbarn there! George VS Dragon had another funny story as expected, Pre-Skool Prime Minister and My Own Genie also being fantastic (despite reading the My Own Genie story before).
Nuke Noodle and Postman Prat were fantastic, and Dave the Squirrel, Igg and Ook, Jibber & Steve and Ray Fears all being brilliant mini strips! But the best of all had to be the brilliance of the Bogies, 17 panels of pure entertainment at its fullest. Nigel Auchterlounie, if you're reading this, you sir, are a genius.
Overall a fantastic issue as usual most definitely worth £1.50!
Great issue, but The Beano was good as well. I find The Bogies just average. Postman Prat-Fantastic! Best strip this week.

Are you talking to me?
I don't know, there's a lot of great stuff in the comics these days. But I'd probably have to go for Jamie Smart's Desperate Dan, overall. Having already been a fan of his indie stuff like Bear, I thought it was a master-stroke to let Jamie loose on such an iconic character. I really think he's given the character a shot in the arm, and for me the gag-rate has just soared under Jamie's tenure.

It may well have hindered things, but I didn't notice due to having, if anything, even less footballing knowledge than you!
Overall, I thought this week's issue was excellent, with a definitely higher than average LOL rate. Shame to spoil it with two pages of JLS plonked in the middle, really. Now that Desperate Dan's back on the cover and the black stripe's gone, I hope the weekly two celebrity pages quota can at last be abolished.
Strongest strips were Harry Hill, Rocky's Horror Show, the Bogies and Nuke Noodle. In the advert for next week in the back, it refers to "new George vs Dragon". Was that the George vs Dragon which was new last week, then? Or is something afoot?
