Picked up a few 1950s reprints from various places. I only need 3 or 4 of them so the rest will be sold on......after having a good read of them obviously! I've never come across the Iroquois Trail comic before and can't find any details on it so I'll have to have a hunt for info when it turns up.

Another lovely selection of old, more obscure comics, Adam. The Yarmak could be from late 1949/early1950 and, with any luck, the art will be by the great Stanley Pitt. Please let me know if it is. I'm pretty sure it's an original Australian comic.

The first issue of a mid-fifties Charlton comic called Wild Frontier contained a 27 page story called Iroquois Trail, starring Hawkeye. The cover is different from your Iroquois Trail comic, but the central character looks the same. You can see WF 1 at http://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=20279.

I think you've got it, David. Despite being an admin on CB+, I didn't think to check our archive. The notes under the book do suggest where it came from and I'm sure Adam's comic is a reprint of that story. Can't get to my copy of the guide right now but I'll look it up ASAP.
Of course, it's a Streamline book! (Light bulb going off in head - somewhat late, but it went off. I'm a bit slow and dopy today)

There were a bucketload of annuals in two of the charity shops in Glenrothes today. I was meeping a bit at them being from the 1990s but stopped when I realised that meant that they were over 20 years old if they were a day.

I satisfied myself with six of the Dandy Beano compilations from 1991 to 1997 with the exception of the 1994 compilation.

Thanks David and Paw. I'm away at the back end of this week so I hope they will have arrived by Saturday when I'm back. I'll get some better pictures loaded then as well. It looks like a Streamline reprint but I can't find any record of it. We'll see!

That copy of the first issue of The Victor went for somewhere in the region of £48.

A varied "lucky dip" box of comics from an online auction house pictured below which should be fun to see what the box has in store for me for £12.

And Woodland Comics #1 from Apollo in 1949. I loved the cover!

It's so difficult to value this comic as I've seen a VG copy go for £50, a poor one for £48 and another VG for £199! Looking over the past 3-4 years they tend to be between £40 and £60.........except for that £199 glitch! Phil Shrimpton sold a Good copy for £117 last year as well.

I think the £60 that Hawkeye paid was about right for the condition it looked in. Great comic for the collection in any case!

I can't remember how much I paid for mine as it's so long ago but I doubt whether it was even double figures, and its condition I would certainly describe as Fine. At the time I'd never even heard of 30th Century Comics. They were maybe no more than an idea at the time.........if that. Colin Morgan was still alive, and he died in 2000, and if you wanted comics from London at reasonable prices you went to Norman Shaw's house in Upper Norwood or, somewhat later, The Book Palace in Gipsy Hill. On the other hand, if you didn't mind getting overcharged you could always go to The Vintage Magazine Shop in Brewer Street in Soho.

Picked up a few comics at the ephemera fair. One dealer had a box of comics for a pound each which he had got at a boot fair the day before. About a dozen Whams in the box but another dealer got them first and I will have to buy them off him for about a fiver each at the next fair. In the same box were some Hornets including one with a pink four page flyer for Hornet no. 1 which was a nice acquistion. Also got the last ever School Friend which Steve 2 pointed out to me - it was about £3. An early 60s Topper and Beezer - both Christmas issues. A Hurricane with a wrap around cover and some 1950s Thomson womens papers like Red Letter, two of which had the free gifts.

Incidentally, did you go to the comic mart the weekend before Steve? I was wondering what it would be like as one or two dealers told me they'd been put off by the long gap since the last one.

I didn't make it as I live on the London Marathon route in Rotherhithe and I went to two different stations but there were millions of people trying to get in and I hate crowds and queues. My mate Steve went and he said I wouldn't have enjoyed it as it was too crowded (eg. all those twits who wear backpacks). I'll ask him about it by e-mail later for more info.
