I was in Tesco yesterday and noticed a Total Film comics special. It had articles on the Beano, Baxendale, Jack Kirby, Spider-Man and women in comics. It looks like a good read but at £7.99 is a bit too expensive for me.

Interesting. I haven't seen that, Steve. I'm curious now to see how accurate the Baxendale piece is because articles often credit other people's work to him.

I think it was a single page article by a woman.

Erm... are you talking about Comic Heroes magazine? Leah Moore has written a page about Leo in the latest issue. It's published quarterly and has been around for a few years now.

No it was definitely Total Film. Perhaps they've reprinted the article from Comic Heroes.

Got some A1 and The Spider (Eclipse) from Oxfam in Perth. They had a load more good indie comics too (such as Alan Moore's 'From Hell') but not cheap (e.g. Titan's Charley's War at £19.99).
They also had hundreds of Commandos at 99p each. Issues, on a quick scan, ranged from 1000 to 3000 (but could be different ones too as I just picked a few out at random).

Glad you grabbed it, I think the other #1 free gift may be on Abe books, although the wording is not exactly the same, they have it as 'Half a million redskins on the warpath' and they have it as 1940, and they want £10.64 plus postage !!

Sorry, Lew. I went back to Tesco on Friday and it was Comic Heroes. When you mentioned it I imagined the Comic Heroes mag that came in the black wallet a few years ago. Is this the same title but with a new look?

A much better haul today/this week compared to the last month or so.
I managed to get my hands on:
Amazing Stories #1 - Alan Class - 1965 (image below)
2000 AD banned issues 71 & 72
Rampage #2 + Free gift - Marvel - 1977
Plug #2 + Free gift - DCT - 1977
Buddy #1 + #2 both with free gifts - DCT - 1981
Fight Comics #1 - Trent - 1960 (image below)
Bruce of Scotland - Junior Press - Pre decimal - I have no idea about this comic. Colcool007 has had a quick look around and he doesn't know anything of it. Can anyone else help please? Image below
Just picked up Demon! #1 from Portman 1978 which means I only need one more to have all of the Portman #1s

That fight comic is nice.
I never understood why people refer to those 2000ad issues as banned tbh. They were never banned, the JD story was just not able to be reprinted - and even that's not the case anymore, as the complete Cursed Earth was published not so long ago.

It's a damn sight easier to say banned than not allowed to be reproduced due to copyright infringement.
And if anyone has any information on that Bruce of Scotland comics, please put us all out of our misery as it is rare that we find a comic that has nothing mentioned about it online.

I agree with you 100% but when I re-sell it.....which I aim to do, I'll mention 'banned' as it should sell quicker!
£5.40 for the Fight Comics inc postage made it even nicer!

There are still bargains to be had on Ebay.

Good point...
'BAN them!' certainly rolls off the tongue easier than 'Kindly make them unavailable for reproduction due to copyright infringement'.
That was a great price for the Fight!
Its always been the case with eBay that if you're willing to put in the time and effort to search and chase up listings you'll find awesome things.
I actually remember the first thing I ever bought from eBay - it was before .co.uk and the listing was for the 6 1920s Felix the cat annuals, no picture, but it was less than a mile away. Bid and won and picked them up the same day.
Price... £1.25 Never looked back.

Great deal! I spend a good 4 or 5 hours a week on Ebay which does allow me to find the odd bargain at least once a fortnight and the big bargain, like your TV Century 21 and Smash comics last year, about once a year. Couldn't make a living out of it but it pays heavily towards my comic collecting!
