Missed out on the complete set of Complete Fantastic Four from 1977 with 3 sets of free gifts as well as the gifts from the 1980's Fantastic Four comics. They are not the rarest or most expensive but they are two comics and gifts of only 3 that I need to have all of the #1s, #2s and #3s Marvel UK comics with their gifts from the 1970s. I've waited a long time so another few months won't really matter though.

Massive collection of TV Century 21 comics went this evening for a very healthy price. I was in the race but nowhere near the winner! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162026492722? ... EBIDX%3AIT

That's a very high price for a collection with such a poor condition #1 and a reproduction fireball free gift.

I agree, but I wonder if the winner realises that the gift is a repro as the seller doesn't say it is?

Went first into a specialist charity book shop. They had Victorian Comics by Denis Gifford at £9.This is a book I wouldn't mind owning but would not find to be an enjoyable read.I like victorian humour from the cartoons of the time, to Thomas Hood, or Diary of a nobody etc.but the comics seem to fall flat and have little appeal to me.Not a price I would be interested in paying for it.

In another charity shop they had a lot of Roy of the Rovers annuals from 1979 but the thing that interested me most there was a box of 100 Roy of the Rovers postcards at £2.After some thought I decided not to buy.

In Oxfam where I bought Classics Illustrated a few days ago they had 2 bumper indian religous story book comics in english at £2 each.I am not indian or interested in religion for that matter but these looked to be old ,similar to the classic format and looked interesting reading but I was not looking beyond spending a pound so left them.

In one shop they had lots Beezer,Beano , Cor annuals etc but these were too new for my interest. In another shop where they had a lot of annuals at £2.50 they had a Beezer annual in the window that had no date on the cover, looking inside it was priced at ten pound, they had obviously done their homework. :)

All of the issues shown in close up look very shabby. You're right. It's a very high price for that condition. Still, the buyer must be happy to pay that so each to their own I suppose. Individual issues in better condition sell for around £20 each from 1965/66, with early issues fetching a lot more. This collection sold for around £7 an issue in poorer condition so it's probably over the odds but not as much as we think.

Not so much as what I didn't buy today but what others don't seem to be buying either.
For a week or so in town centre charity shops, one has had around a dozen Roy of the Rovers annuals on prominant display, another has three of the later Illustrated classic comics all at low prices not yet sold.
Then there is another town charity shop which cannot seem to sell 2000ad comics at 50p each which have been on the shelves for a few weeks.

While in Oxfam today they had a number of Comic world mags but there wasn't enough illustrated content in them to interest me.

At sunday carboot I had set a limit on my spending and had already reached that limit when I came across a seller with three Mandrake the magician(king comics) for sale at £2each.These I regarded as somewhat collectable but having looked through them decided to walk on.With them in mind I returned again later to view them again but finding the artwork fairly average decided not to buy them.

adam eterno, as regards fantastic four 1977; there were only two free gifts (the first two issues with model aircraft kits to make up). The cut-out pages are erroneous; they were actually part of the comic and not classed as a free gift. This ebay auction was misleading. Issue 3 or 4 did not have a free gift.

Quite right Geoff regarding the Complete Fantastic 4 from the 70s. However, I later found out my son won the lot for me and the lot he won came with 3 x free gifts from each of the first two issues of Complete AND 5 free gifts from the 1980s Fantastic Four comics series which I'd recognised.

Here's an example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FANTASTIC-FOU ... SwNSxU~aDM

I've already sold 2 of the Complete gifts for £45 so very happy with his purchase!

The comic shop in Falkirk has a load of girls comics (mainly Bunty but also, at least, Judy. Maybe others) for 3 for £1. Not my thing but some might want it.

Definitely wasn't tempted by the BHF shop in Falkirk which had 2000AD 1989 for £13.50 (nope, that's not a rogue '1') and a Dan Dare for £17.50. Never even bothered looking at the Judge Dredd one. Crazy prices.

I was looking at the 3 for a £1 box the last time I was in Falkirk. The covers on them really are amazing.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

A charity shop in Lewisham on Monday had some recent Commandos for £2 which was the cover price. A bit steep for second hand comics. Unless they are unsold ones from Lewisham Smiths which sells them. They had season 7 of Star Trek Voyager for £4.99 though which I was almost tempted to buy. But it had one of those bulky plastic cases which put me off. I have the first six seasons in plain boxes so wanted symmetry. sic.

I was bidding on an early issue of My Favourite from 1928. Unfortunately I didn't win. Am a bit gutted as I would've liked this - such an early issue of the comic too.

Was that Ebay George? I didn't see that at all if it was. Looks a great comic, how much did it go for?

I missed out on Commando 2 (£278), 3 (£254) and 4 (£135) which all went for very healthy amounts as well as missing out on Whoopee #2 (£78) with it's free gift intact as well as #10 (£39) and a first year complete run of Scorcher which went for £130.

There's always this week!
