The answer is that all those teams can be found in any dictionary. Hull, Bury, Reading etc. Or each word of their name eg Queens Park Rangers. (Chesterfield is a type of furniture in case you're wondering).

I was looking through some 60s West Ham programmes the other night and saw they beat Sunderland 8-1 in an old first division match with Geoff Hurst getting six goals.

Most goals scored by one player in the old first division
was 7 by Ted Drake for Arsenal v. Aston Villa in 1935.

What about this "Roy of the Rovers" type match and score from waaaaay back in 1928 when a Combined Agrentina/Uruguay team ( the 2 teams that played out the1930 World Cup final) lost (in South America I think) to , of all teams Motherwell 3-0?

Or England 1 v Scotland 6 ..............errr ok it was in 1881 but you have to give us something England must have a better than great chance of winning the World Cup later this year (IMHO) - I think the biggest scoreline in football history is still Arbroath 36 - Bon Accord 0 (seemingly as there were no nets it may have been more as the ref couldn't tell when the ball went in the "net" (so to speak) and the recent Motherwell v Hibs match was pretty good as 6-6 with Hibs being 6-2 up at one point. I also seem to remember Aberdeen on their run tio win the European Cup winners cup (or the year before that) beat a Swizz (Scion?) team 15-1 on aggrigate and about 8 years after that game they then beat Aberdeen 10-1 on aggrigate how the once "mighty" can fall

I was doing a quick check on the Arbroath v Bon Accord Roy of the Rovers scoreline and was stunned to read that on the same day (this was in 1885 ) in another Scottish Cup match, Dundee Harp beat Aberdeen Rovers 35–0!!!! imagine losing out on a world record by 1 goal lol.

I seem to remember on a very old Question of Sport they showed very old archive footage of an old England-Scotland match, with contestants from both countries. They asked "who won, incidentally?" and the score had been England winning 12-0, in the next "what happens next" round the English bloke just wrote "12-0" on the screen.

Well done to Blackpool I am now praying that Millwall do the same at Wembley this Saturday. My local paper had some press quotes from their play-off game against Huddersfield and they were unanimous that the Lions fans are the loudest in Britain. It also said the Huddersfield players were scared to go to the touchlines.

You do realise I suppose, Steve, that the reputation of Millwall fans has gone before them, so it is not too surprising that the residents of the gal farm responded in time-honoured fashion to the perceived threat. They clearly didn't want their udders feeled.

This is the post I wanted to put up on Sunday but couldn't because I was prevented from uploading the attachment.
