You were all too noisy you naughty wabbits!Kashgar wrote:Dithpicable!
It got away. Oh well, I will console myself with the Hotspurs that are on sale a year at a time as I could get three years worth for the price I was willing to pay for the 1967 Victor Special. Oh well, another one will turn up soon...I hope.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!
Re: What comics did you buy today?
There's a Victor in the Belfast Telegraph next week

Just won some bound facsimile Magnets and a 1921 half year of the Nelson Lee Library... i seem to be collecting Nelson Lee these days!
EDIT: Oh and the scheme is just something i vaguely read about on another forum, so these aren't 100% FACTS!(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and will probably get me snootily dismissed, but it seems to revolve around making sellers of certain items upgrade to a "business account" rather than selling stuff privately, thus making them have to charge more to cover costs or just not bother.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Because colcool might be interested in getting it, as he mentioned Victor in his last two posts? Anyway, I quoted it in the relevant thread.Phoenix wrote:Why is this comment in the What comics did you buy today? thread?AndyB wrote:There's a Victor in the Belfast Telegraph next week
Re: What comics did you buy today?
The relevance was that the last thing Colin was talking about was Victor...
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Today I picked up a 1967 Valiant annual in excellent condition.

They also had the first Valiant annual from 1964 for £4, but I didn't have enough money on me.

What on earth did the 1967 one cost you, steelclaw, if you only had £4 or less left after you'd bought it?steelclaw wrote:They also had the first Valiant annual from 1964 for £4, but I didn't have enough money on me.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Visiting family over Easter, I found a charity shop in the small town which had some mint Sixties girls' annuals in the window for £1 or £2 each. The Princess Annual 1964 was one in 'as new' condition. I decided to nip back in an hour or two to get them, seeing no obvious comic collectors in sight. When I did they were already gone!
All that was left was the Valiant Annual 1970 - sellotape on the front and end paper bits holding the middle in, and bumped cover corners, but otherwise perfectly okay, and only £2 - so I had a new 8 page Raven on the Wing adventure to read; in red, too.
I missed out on those interesting looking girls' annuals but was pleased to just get in the post eight consecutive issues of Lion from 7th February 1970, all near mint; none of yer rusty staples and manky brown splodges. That's the issue in which Flame of the Forest, General Johnny and Fugitive From Planet Scror begin (some great scans of the first two here - http://www.comicsuk.co.uk/Forum/viewtop ... 2&start=75 - and thanks again to Mr. Claw for properly introducing me to these); looking forward to reading eight consecutive instalments of each. Twenty four pages of Flame o'!
Lots of Spellbinder, too, of course.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Phoenix I had just bought 3 shelfs and 2 cd's and as I was passing the comic shop I popped in with a £5 to spend that I had left(I dare not take my credit card out with me) and as the 1967 Annual had a Steel Claw strip I decided to buy that one for £4.Phoenix wrote:What on earth did the 1967 one cost you, steelclaw, if you only had £4 or less left after you'd bought it?steelclaw wrote:They also had the first Valiant annual from 1964 for £4, but I didn't have enough money on me.

You can't beat those Lion comics from 1970, Lion & Champion was excellent as well.Raven wrote: I missed out on those interesting looking girls' annuals but was pleased to just get in the post eight consecutive issues of Lion from 7th February 1970, all near mint; none of yer rusty staples and manky brown splodges. Those Busters are from 1999 and 1990 aren't they?

Yep.Digifiend wrote:Those Busters are from 1999 and 1990 aren't they?
I was surprised no one else bid on them, although the person didn't really sell the last Buster very well with no mention of it being the final issue in the description.
