Just crossed off another of my want list, winning the Dandy No. 1000 from eBay.
There were two auctions of No. 1000 today, but I won the first one.
Interesting that The Beano seemed to celebrate these big numbers much more than The Dandy - Beano #1000 is a beauty to this day but I had to google Dandy #1000 and it doesn't look like much! I wonder why. Still a cool one to get though - is there anything that celebrates the milestone inside?
I don't know about the contents (I am expecting my copy soon), but Korky does (or someone on his strip) mentions the milestone.
I will know about the contents when I get my copy in the next week or so.
Not something I bought today, but a couple of weeks ago and started to read today. I got a copy of the Beano annual 1954. Was in poor condition with scribbles on the front cover but nice and cheap and perfectly readable, I thought. Turned out it was missing 2 pages. I've managed to cobble together the missing pages by looking at pictures on old ebay listings. All except for one page If any one wants to let me know what page 58 looks like so I can read the Goggo story I'd be very greatful
Thank you Al. Hawkeye already emailed me a copy of the missing page but thank you for you taking the time to send me it too.
I also did manage to snag another copy of the Beano annual 1954 off ebay for £15 yesterday. Hopefully this one won't have any missing pages. It looked in much better condition than the one I already have.
Once it arrives I plan on giving the other one away for free (alongside printed off copies of the missing pages). If I can find someone who wants it
I've got a couple other comics and annuals I might get rid of, in preparation for a potential move.
Update: My 1954 annual arrived. It has all the pages

It turns out that Korky made the only reference to the comics landmark issue. There were no other reference to the milestone in the comic.
just lovely! If you can make it to London in th next 6 months then I can recommend a trip to the Beano exhibition at Somerset house (which features the original notes for the creation of Big Eggo)

The seller I bought the Dandy off surprised me with this Beano No 64. The price was even more of an eye-opener. But in a good way.
And cheers for that Beano exhibition info. Much appreciated. Thank you.
