Thought I'd share this recent purchase. As you are aware I normally collect & upload early Beano & Dandy issues from the 1940s and 30s, but my brother got me this christmas Beano no.1484 from 1970 as a surprise because of the iconic cover. And If my memory serves me correctly wasn't this issue voted the best cover ever by fans? Yes, I think it was. So cool!
Wow what a beautiful cover! Absolutely stunning colours- it looks like it’s glowing! Who’s the artist - David Sutherland?
I’d be interested to hear what people think are the best comic covers of all time? For me Wham #21 (the 1964 fireworks issue) must be up there. By Leo Baxendale of course. I don’t own it but I’d love to get a print. What else?
George Shiers,I agree,a beautiful cover.
Interestingly you believe the artist was David Sutherland,I think you're probably correct as I would veer towards this but I also see the possibility of David Law.
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/wham-21/4000-792227/ a lovely cover indeed (link to Wham 21 cover).
Will get back to you on my favourite cover of all time.

That is a beautiful cover of Jackpot @intotheabyss, I agree in that the logo does take away from the artwork a little bit. I've seen a few pieces of art for Fleetway front covers go up for sale in various places over the years, and it always looks great. It's a shame so much of it seems to have been dumped.
The reason I think David Sutherland rather than David Law for that 1970 Christmas Beano is I think Law wasn't drawing around late 1970? I understand he stopped drawing Dennis earlier that year and fell sick, then made a brief return in 1971 before sadly passing away. I could be wrong though

Cheers Goerge Shiers for the nice comment. As said in that link. When I first sourced that Jackpot art in question had the very annual as a child, and I never expected that in the future would own it 40 odd years later. Big fan of christmas or horror-related comics & artwork as you might be aware with my recent posts featuring original John Bolton Monster Club/Hammer Halls of Horror/Evil Dead comic/magazine art etc.. I'm like a like a moth to a lightbulb, lol.
Also, intresting info about Dennis Law & David Sutherland. They were fantastic artists. Besides Sutherland creating one of the best Beano covers ever, we also can thank David Law for creating characters Dennis the Menace & Beryl the Peril. It's sad how both are now gone to the great art studio in the sky. They left a great legacy with their work.

Received today
Buster &
Giggle November 30th 1968. I'm finding it more difficult to find 1960's Busters...
I have dozens of 1960s Busters including issue 1 and some larger size early issues. I'm selling off most of my collection on ebay but it's slow progress.

Got this cool Scream comic no.1 from 1984 with free gift as a surprise from my brother today. Think I had most of the issues including the specials once? Anyway, big fan of horror comics & art as you know. I remember back then getting four issues for a Halloween party in which I went as a Vampire. Why four issues you ask? Well I kept breaking my teeth, lol.

Visited the charity shop to see if they had reduced their comic prices but to no avail even though the comics have sat in the window for a few weeks.
Rarely buy girl's comics but on to the market a stall holder had a pile of Mandy comics and when I asked the price he said £10 the lot , I didn't want the lot and managed to buy couple of copies at a £1 each.
One from 1974 and the other from 1975
