Boy Marney the fox was bleak..though beautiful artwork..a real mix of ugly an beauty..


The War Children was another good one..also the seige of Castle Gloom with all the hidden trap doors..

The Skidd Kids was also tops..

Buster of the 80's had a reprint of Boing the elastic man and March of the mighty one..

Barry and Boing from Knockout 70's...reprinted in Buster...he looked like the michelin man But with springs for arms and legs..could bounce really high..often got tangled up in his springs..

I didn't know that Barry & Boing were reprinted in Buster what year/s?

I think Boing was made of some sort of metal, he got rusty one week and and needed some oil.
This is from issue 2 of Knockout, I threw issue 1 away 20 years ago and I can't afford to replace it yet.

It reminds me of Galaxus a bit...changing sixze...always in danger..on the run..

Hmm, seeing that weasel suddenly made memories of the Farthing Wood comic pop into my head, my brother had a near complete run in 1995 or so, then binned the lot!

Should i ever have children and they collect a comic i'll forbid them from throwing any of them away! XD

Really enjoying Buster and Giggle adventure stories..
Patch-eye Hooker and the inventions that made the story even more special...a bit like the Will Smith film Wild Wild West..

Micky Marvel Multi-gun is quite amazing!! a kid with a real special But still a gun!! some nice creative stories with the Dinosaur eggs..

Also Peril from below is clever using a tiny louse normally But super large horrible!!

I'm old enough to recall "Maxwell Hawke" That strip seemed pretty scary back in the early 1960s. I think Buster issue when it ran (1960 to 1966) are pretty rare and tough to get.

Did you ever try any old Valiants, Peter, as I think I once recommended - sort of a companion paper to Buster in a way: mix of adventure and comedy; broadly the same artists and look - aimed a little older. If you find the Buster and Giggle strips gripping, I'm sure you'd like Valiant circa 1970-73, for example.

I will take you advice on Valiant I'll look for them next time I go to 30th Century shop

I was persuaded by my mate Steve to buy about 30 of the early large size Busters for £8 apiece or so from Phil Clarke a couple of Comic Marts back. Glad I did. I already had a dozen or so but they don't turn up that often. Was lucky to get the first issue of Buster for a fiver a few years back. Buster and Valiant were superb, together they made just about the most perfect comic.
