HAPPY DAYS issue number 1 (1938) wih a beautiful Roy Wilson cover just went for £77.57 on ebay. I was hoping to get it but alas...

Not strictly a comic - but a Sparky `Flier` from a 1965 Beano which was for the new `Sparky` comic; put on E.Bay by Phil comics, went for 79.00 (pounds) Luckily, I already have one which I bought last year for 24 pounds (It came with the Beano comic)

Blimey! While those pink flyers have a certain nostalgic charm for those of us who remember them that sort of money sounds way over the odds to me. I can't really see that they are any more significant than the regular ads that appeared in other titles - this one from Topper for example:



...Interesting to see that Sparky was aimed at boys and girls, as I always thought of it as rather more of a boys' comic (what's more, its launch wasn't even mentioned in that week's Diana which chose to plug a free gift in the latest issue of Judy instead). Incidentally, is the same illustration of two readers used on the flyer as well?

Mind you, the Pinks are (In my view) lovely works of art! I was lucky in getting my Sparky No1 pink in a £24.00 1965 Beano. I have about six or seven (need to count them!) I am still after the March 1966, the Jan 1970, Feb 71 and August 1974 ones. I would pay well!

Has anybody else clocked the price that Sparky issue No 86 went for on E.Bay two days ago?

It had the "Buzy Buzzer" Free gift-all very fine cond! Went for . . . Wait for it! . . ,. £227.00!! "WOW!!"

And, no! It wasn't me! I suspect certain peoples went on a bidding frenzy!

I really liked those 'Buzzy Buzzers' you used to get in comics and breakfast cereals. The trouble is they rarely lasted for very long before the string snapped or the cardboard wore through. If I acquired one in mint condition now I'd be sorely torn between the nostalgic thrill of 'taking it for a spin' or keeping it sealed away in the original envelope!

Ok not comes but some intresting free gifts have been selling recently! The Haggis Launcher that came with Pow! #3 sold for £340!

Not a first issue but I recently put a near mint copy of Viz issue 13 on ebay for £2 and it sold yesterday for £37.70. Very happy with that.

A nice copy of Girl vol1 no1 recently sold on ebay for 79 pounds.

I'd love to have the Last Buster comic, anyone selling it?

Wham! No1, recently sold on ebay for 99 pounds, described as, like new, free gift not included.

I sold Bullet number 1 for £27 this week - it was a spare copy. I still have my mint original bought when it was published - and the free gift.
