Thank you, Alan, for this clarification.

Phoenix! I must admit I was rather puzzled at your puzzlement! Reading my post where I first mentioned Sue, Sooty etc! I think you might have thought a line of lyrics was referring to the studio line up! Anyhow! We seem to be all right now! Cheers! :D :)

Of course we are all right, Alan. It just wasn't clear to me exactly what the girls were doing on the record. I certainly realised that you were presenting lyrics, because you put them in inverted commas. Maybe I was a bit slow on the uptake. Sorry.

Cheers! The `B` side is a `take` on Joe Cockers version of "With A Little Help From My Friends" Oddie sings the old Yorkshire ballad "On Ilkley Moor Bar Tap" (Sic) in the same `heavy metal` style!

sorry I've not added anything on the cartoons for about 3 weeks, readers: I was off on family business/problems with the computer.

I'm still as keen as ever to add more stuff on here:

themes [7]: SONG LYRICS

I sometimes incorporate song lyrics into the strips, it's a great way of getting ideas that the readers can recognize [or not]:

[please excuse the less-than-perfect scan...this happens now and again, I'm afraid...the original is fine.]

for all you young whippersnappers who weren't around in the 70s, here's the original lyrics:

Each to his own, as they say. Admittedly that song doesn't exactly pull up any trees but the genre, well that's a different matter altogether.

'they're justified, and they're ancient, and they drive an ice-cream van'

is not exactly my favourite songlyric, but is a good example of songlyrics that are fine for adaptation to cartoon imagery.

Back on the visual front, this weekend's theme is

selling out to the yanks. Inking ready to load, but the drawings are rationed to one every weekend to avoid overkill.

as promised earlier, this week's theme is;

SELLING OUT TO THE YANKS:

Yes, it sounds a bit jingoistic, but pretty tame in the grand scheme of things, and no worse than them dubbing us 'limeys'.

The occassion is of course the almost-upon-us Fourth of July, and all the razamatazz that conjures up. Also, the strip is set in the US, on account of the target publishers being stationed there.

sorry, Phoenix, I have to agree with steelclaw on the merits of KLF/Tammy Wynette! The lyrics are wilfully eccentric, but there's true greatness in pulling off this coup!

The only musical Tie up that ever impressed me was that of the `Monty Python` team and Arthur Mullard to release a single called "Bovver Boys" Charisma Label No 200 (1972) `B` side- "A Letter To George Best" Yes! I have this all time classic!! Aah! True Quality! :headbash: :headbash: :headbash: :headbash: :headbash:
