In the Broons and Oor Wullie book in the pages is a reproduction of the whole Su8nday fun post..which is also great to see the comic characters in that first one..

Can't wait for the Dennis the Menace one..one more day to go hopefully..

The Victor annual has reproduction from 12 different early annuals inside..

Peter Re the Victor book are the annual covers in colour?

I'm not him, but the Victor Annual doesn't have any reproduced covers inside! The stories are in their original 3-colour format though.

I received my copy of the Dennis 60th Anniversary book in the mail this morning, and have just done a preview for the book on my blog here.

I already own all the free stuff (both the facsimile Dennis issue and the DVD) that comes with the annual thats a disappointment but i'll still get it though. On another note they should release the whole of the Dennis 1996 series on DVD not just the first four episodes their must be a market for it as all other series are on DVD and they dont repeat the 1996 series on CBBC anymore so I cant watch it.

Its not in any shops round Surrey yey the Dennis book..what other Dandy characters are there inside other than Bully Beef and chips...Desperate Dan..Smasher..are there original art printed inside..

the Broons and Oor Wullie have a original art for Peter Piper from Magic for example..

I'll keep hunting the shops..

Also appearing are Korky, And a vintage "Butch and his Pooch" story.

There are a couple of extended stories, but I think these are from recent annuals ("Dandy Days in Beanotown" and "A Birthday Story" drawn by Mike Pearse)

Wasn't Dandy Days in Beanotown a serial in the Dandy to promote Beanotown Racing?

Yep, Digifiend, it was a promo for the game.

Wasn't expecting you to answer, since that means you must've realised it wasn't from an annual. Neither was Birthday Story, which was from the weekly Beano (replacing the usual anthology format that week and they did the same thing a few other times too in 2000-2001).

I've bought both books today for £14 in the WHSmiths offer buy one get one for a £1..couldn't resist..

Love how the two books are complimentry in the same format..The Broons and Oor Wullie..so nice new big format..also the images are not fiddled around with too much and the reproductions are nice...there a few original art mixed in both books..though wished they showed more..

The book is really a Dennis book..I was expecting though no reference of Minnie...Dianh Mo..Bash street..Beryl the Peril..I also felt they should have made a feature on Davy Law more..showing his other comic characters..info about him etc..
A real joy seeing lots of early Dennis and in large format..
also love seeing Dandy days again and Steve Bright he is the man..surely this top comic artist deserves to come back to either the Dandy or The beano..
I really miss seeing his amazing work..the Desperate Dan and Dennis looking at each other close up is a great image..

As a guess maybe both books will do World war 2 next time..

He was a regular on here before I joined, as when I was a lurker on here I read quite a lot of his posts, but I don't think he's posted on here for a couple of years now.

Steve was brilliant for the Beano and Dandy, especially for the latter, though I did also think he was the best replacement for Tom Paterson on Calamity James - in my opinion most of the other ghost artists over the years weren't able to capture the strip's madcap style. I liked his David Law style too, it's a shame he never got a chance to use it on Dennis!
