I was just about to post about this! It really is lovely, in a similar style to parts of Alice in Sunderland.

Charlie Brooker (ex-Oink!, of course) gives Comics Britannia a glowing review in his Screen Burn column, too.

It's also good to see him setting the record straight on the use of speech balloons in early satirical broadsheets! (though personally I'm inclined to date them even further back to certain medieval paintings in which words were written on stylised scrolls emanating from the mouths of Saints and Sinners)

If you'd bought the Times on Saturday you would have seen their Knowledge listings magazines had a cover in the style of the Beano (the word Knowledge was written in the style of the Beano masthead and the cover featured Dennis and Rasher. Very well done and i will keep it for posterity. Sometimes it pays not to be a leftie.

If it's permitted, I'll scan and post the stuff from The Guide?

Got a copy of Saturday's Guardian and I can't find nuffink! (Bought on Monday due to being on a warm and windswept isle...) Help!

It's in the paperback book sized weekly entertainment section. You can't miss it it's on the cover of said Guide.

Lew, I could kiss you...er..maybe not! I note that the guide actually came out on Friday so that the hernia that I got from picking up Saturday's Guardian was un-necessary! Lovely little piece that we, as adults, will happily look out for but would have passed un-noticed if we were still the kids that were happy reading Hot-Shot Hamish or Bernard Briggs.

No The Guide was definitely in Saturday's edition. If it was missing in yours (as these supplemental mags often are) it's the fault of a company in my home town which prints and distributes all of those weekend magazines for the various newspapers across the country. An ex-girlfriend of mine works there so blame her if you like.
