In the latest issue we have the start of a classic Tough Of The Track strip. I, for one, am really pleased to see the editor looking further afield (Victor) for some of the classic comic strips. My only concern is that 1 month between installments may make it hard to follow, maybe we should have a couple of episodes in each issue?

Ideally I would LOVE to see a monthly Classics devoted completely to DC Thomson adventure strips ..

Anyone else think this would be a good idea ? Or anyone have any other Victor/Hotspur/Wizard stories they would like to see run in Classics?

Not being in the UK makes it even harder than normal to find this. Which story have they done?

I can't get "Classics from the comics" anywhere and I'm in London. their must be somewhere in London I can get it does anyone know where? The 3 shops I used to get it from don't sell it anymore.

I presume it's a subscription copy that Spencer has? Classics doesn't usually hit the (one) shop that stocks it here until Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. They currently have the Beano anniversary issue.

Finally somebody whon agrees! i even suggested it could be initially done as a "one off" in Classics itself to see how it sells. Or perhaps even alternated with Classics on each month so that it doesn't cost them "more" to print.

But two people on a forum do not influence an industry XD

Yes, I am a subscriber. But thought it would be in the shops by now as I received my copy last Saturday (16th August)!

Have to wait for Thursday to get Classics...last one of each Month..

I would love to see an adventure classics as well...as long as it has some comic adventure strips as well..i.e Black Bob..Sci-fi...The Jellymen..

Ray, you are such a tease! I would be intrigued to see if it is classic Pete Sutherland 'Tupper' or whether it was Ted's version or even one of the later artists.

great feature on Davy Law...Goggo is mentioned is that from a Beano annual think I've seen it in my collection..

Also enjoyed the Victor strip..very good..1962
Classics should do more specials...an adventure Classics for one Month would be cool..

If they are going to show strips in 1993 (Desperate Dan) show some Tom Paterson gems..

As far as I can remember, without the Beano Diaries to hand, Goggo subtitled 'the Wizard in the Goldfish Bowl' was an illustrated text story in the Beano comic first and then turned up in a subsequent Beano Book. I'll check the details and get back to you.

The Tough of the Track strip is the first episode of the very first Victor picture strip series from Victor No 71 (30/6/62). If they chose to run the whole series, at the rate of one episode per issue, it would take nearly two years to complete. The Victor series originally having run till No 92 (24/11/62). The artwork is by the late, great Pete Sutherland and the series itself is the picture strip adaptation of much of the first half of the first Tough of the Track text series in the Rover Nos 1244 (30/4/49) - 1275 (3/12/49), the adaptation taking in instalments from Rover issues 1244-1253, 1255-1257 and 1259-1261.
