First issue of JUNE - couple of full page ads.

A friend handed me a bag of his doubles yesterday among which were some copies of Girl's Crystal. Luckily two consecutive issues had nice adverts for June.

One of Fleetway's best title's for girls especially in the June & School Friend era 1965-1971 when it was like the girl's equivalent of Lion & Champion or Tiger & Hurricane in format.

I have the first issue here too. My mate (also Steve) picked up a bound volume of June - only 26 issues but it was as thick as a house brick. June and School Friend was a 40 pager. The best girl's strips for me are the Little Princess type stories where a young girl from a rich family falls on hard times and comes under the care of a viscious woman. They are heart rending and have a bit more depth of character than the boys stories.

My better half, who happens to be called June, bought J&S as a girl and we've got a near complete collection of June 1961-1974. A really nice paper.
