As to 'The Boy with Iron Hands' this was an idea and a title that Dandy editor Albert Barnes used on three seperate occasions in three different contexts. In 1939 a boy with these attributes was the star of a strip set in medieval times drawn by Fred Sturrock, then there was the 1959-1961 WWII Bill Holroyd effort and finally in 1971 a strip with a modern setting, drawn by Paddy Brennan, with the slighly truncated title 'Iron Hands'.
Come to think of it Paddy Brennan also drew the adventures of a secret agent called simply 'Iron Hand' in Cracker/Beezer between 1975 and 1979. In this final instance though the eponymous hero did actually have an 'iron hand' a la Valiant's Steel Claw.

Front page layout looks a bit messed up. A few missing <br> codes perhaps?

Mistake on the Joe Soap page - Peter Piper was not in The Beano comic, just the 1940s Magic-Beano Books. He was in Magic, Sparky, and Topper.

I've amended the error re: Beano/Magic comic.


My first guess is that any problems are to do with the type of browser.
The front page looks fine on my machine (IE6) and at the library (IE7).
Let me know what you're using and I'll see if I can do anything.
That goes for anyone else who is having a problem with the home page.

IE8. If it works in IE6 and IE7 it should've worked fine in that.

I've identified the problem. Both the computers you used have a low screen resolution. If you use a large resolution, it doesn't show up properly. My resolution is 1280x1024. Thus, the browser isn't the issue. If I put IE into a small enough window, the layout corrects itself. Screenshot of maximised window:

The Cracker bit to the right appears fine, but as you can see, the other links are in the wrong places.

Internet Explorer is a pain and blogs/sites often look wrong using that. My blog doesn't look right on IE either.

Bin IE. Use Firefox or Opera as a browser instead. Your site looks fine on those.

The screen resolution is the issue, not the browser. Same problem in both Firefox and Google Chrome, only this time, the Cracker links are misplaced too - probably due to a slightly bigger viewing area.

All it needs is an invisible table to limit it to 1024x768, that would fix it.

As I thought, you're using a lower screen resolution. Ideally, it would look OK whatever resolution you use.

My screen res is 1152 x 864. Changing it to 1280 x 960 made no difference to how the page loaded on Firefox.

toxteth, are you using the same OS as Lew, because his screenshot isn't from Windows. Otherwise, I can't explain it.

I'm using an Apple Mac, Digi, hence the different look to the browser.

As I said earlier, if I use IE, I also have problems seeing the Buzz page properly. My own blog doesn't look right in IE either, although admittedly I have an old version of IE - 5.2.3. (I haven't bothered seeing if there's an upgrade as I always use Firefox or Safari.)

That is the latest version, as development stopped in 2003. Ironic really, since there's a version of Safari for Windows (didn't even know that!), and Safari replaced IE as the Mac OS default.

O_O Development of IE stopped in 2003? I know there's a few Mac nutters on here who decided to fling petty insults at me because i dared to say my ipod broke, but that's a bit much.

The latest version is 7 or 8... i think. It's still rubbish though.
