Phantom Force 5 was in the first issue get a flavour at the blog..drawn by Eric Bradbury...

Also from the first issue is Boris and Shimmy in Dinky Land a very Goonish story..will put up an example up soon..

Did anyone here buy Buster in there youth from these early 60's..?

I found a bag of Busters in my flat sort out and among them was a miniature copy of the first issue of Buster. It was reprinted in the Buster over a few weeks (two pages to a page) and you would cut out the pages and fold them in half to, eventually, have the complete comic. All black and white though.

The Dandy did a similar thing a few years back (2006?) to celebrate the anniversary of the 1966 World Cup, their copy was in colour in the relevant places though.

Whizzer and Chips did this, too. (With no. 1 of Whizzer and Chips, that is.)

I think the miniature version was reprinted around Summer 1981 to celebrate 'Buster's big year'

Buster seems to have changed so much in it's first 10 years, introducing more humour stories.

That became more noticeable as time went on as IPC segregated the humour and adventure comics and Buster became part of the humour division. Personally I liked the variety of the Fleetway version but times change.
