Hi Folks, do we still have the embargo on uploading stuff that might have appeared in Eagle (or was that just Dan Dare)? I wanted to upload a Percy Vere strip from the TV21 annual for 1973. I would assume it was a reprint from the Eagle, but am not quite sure as it's not signed (they were usually done by Fiddy, I believe).

Let me know if it's okay, and I'll post it.

Meanwhile here's a couple of other strips from the same annual. I'd like to know who drew them. Any suggestions?

Top one: Richard Jennings.

I think that embargo only applies to Dan Dare - but of course that stops Al using images of Eagle covers, since Dan was the cover star. The rest of Eagle's archive would belong to IPC, whereas Dan is owned by the Dan Dare Corporation.

However, that embargo seemingly doesn't apply to Wikipedia...

So it would be ok to upload one of the later Eagle covers, when Dare was off the cover? I hope so, as I've a question about one of those as well.

I don't know, but he did write scripts in the Sixties. I'm not sure if he ever wrote and drew the same strips or kept both separate.

He drew an Eagle strip 'Island of Fire' in 1962 and I wonder if 'Volcano Island' may be a reprint of that one.

It's the same one. Thanks for that again, Raven. Good job you mentioned that as I'd never have suspected it came from Eagle. Felt much too violent for that. Very 1970s action/adventure feel.

As near as I could see, Jennings only managed to get his signature into one panel of the Eagle version. I'm assuming he must have written it as well as a strip appearing a few months previous gives him both credits.

Here's the Percy Vere piece I mentioned above. Not signed, but got to be Fiddy, right?

Pretty sure it is - 'Volcano Island' has all the hallmarks of a weekly one page strip having the mastheads removed and the top frames extended and shifted.

Could the second one belong to Edmond? It looks very familiar to me... they are after reprinting Jan Europa in spain, don't know uif you know the comic...

Hi RuthB, I pretty sure it is not Edmond, and I'm not familiar with the other two artists you suggested (and couldn't track them down on the internet). I do think the artist is Southern European or South American, though. It looks like somebody who would be at home doing both romance and horror

Hope you all haven't given up yet! This is the last piece I am going to try to identify from the TV21 annual. It's from a story called The Fear Makers. Any ideas as to the artist?
