Reg Parlett - In Color!

It just occurred to me (after 46 years of collecting comics) that you almost never see a Reg Parlett strip in full colour so here's one I found on the back cover of Lion & Thunder dated 6/10/73.

Reg was in colour with his work in 60's Eagle..the caveman sinosaur character for example..calling U for Useless
and with the Buster covers..also Full House from Knockout..
inside annual and summer specials..
But as you say not often..

Sounds like the What did the Romans do for us sketch. I guessed there would be some annual or Summer Special colour strips but had forgotten his Eagle work. Actually I prefer him in black and white - its purer.

And don't forget his colour Belle Tent (Dinah Mite reprints) on the back page of Whizzer and Chips!

Nice Mowser strip.

I agree that black and white did suit his work, though.

That Mowser strip looks like an old black & white page that some in-house bodger coloured for the special. By contrast I'm pretty sure that Reg did his own colouring for Odhams, making full use of their high quality gravure printing. Here's an example taken from one of his more obscure series which appeared in Boys' World.

That is a brilliant find Phil. I think that some of the features gave us more smiles than some of the comic strips.
