I did a search on the forum for Nick Baker and found he's mentioned in only 4 posts. I always enjoyed Nick's Smiler art in Whoopee! I see from this thread

that he also drew S.O.S. (Save Our Stan). Surely such a talented and distinctive artist drew some other strips as well?

I used to find Smiler quite an annoying strip as a boy, though; one of my least favourite in Whoopee; such a limited concept - and thought the art often looked rushed. That advertisment is nice, though.

i did love the Smiler covers of Whoopee in 1982 my era..
love all the different beams..

Thanks for that link, Raven. Seems Nick did a lot of 'legit' cartooning as well as his comics work. Looks like he's still active which is good news.

I really liked Nick Baker's style and I also really liked Smiler! What I loved was how Smiler had different smiles depending on his situation with things like 'Excited Beam', 'Surprised Beam' and 'Scared Beam'. Very clever!
