Patty's World - repeated storylines

I've been collecting and scanning quite a lot of Patty's World episodes over the past few months - from Pink, Mates and Girl magazines. In later episodes in Tina, Carol had married Kerry and they continued to argue, split up and get back together through the run in Pink. However, I'm now seeing in Girl, episodes where they've just met and then going on to marry. These episodes aren't reprints at all, just apparently reworkings. Why did this happen? (Ruth, feel free to enlighten me!)
It's not put me off collecting Patty episodes, but I find it strange the story being retold in a slightly different way (I seem to have read about at least 3 grandmothers dying - not sure if they're all different or the same one's "died" twice over).

Ok, I will enlighten you. When Mates decided to close and leave the story unfinished, the last episode sees patty coming back from her aunt's farm and Johnny is waiting in the station. He was actually saying good bye to his latest squeeze and he ssays to patty something like he has been a fool and he had her in front of her eyes and she was the only one that he wanted.
This happened because Phillip Douglas was told to end the story without delay. Purita was never happy with the outcome...

Now lets go back to teh time: it is 1980/1981 and Patty has been running since 1971, so after 10 years being a success with girl readers, the publishers think that they have to give her a new lease of life and "modernize" her for the new generations, because they asumed that the girls that started reading Patty now were grown ups and not interested: so the story begans from scratch again: Patty is again 13, Carol is still single, etc. So Phillip used some of his best scripts and changed bits an pieces.

Then he wrote new ones. You will find many similar stories, yes.

Aha, thanks Ruth! So every thing was retold for Girl readers! I have also got some of the later episodes from Girl that are presumably the "new" material - it was when I recently acquired a couple of early Patty episodes when she first appeared in Girl that I could see the recurring storylines.

I need to get hold of more of the Mates Patty episodes - these are a lot harder to find!

I know, I have them all but in spanish if it is any good! And I have them all scaned.
I even have some of the late Girls episodes in German from Biggi Magazine! Im a freak, I know!

No, I can relate to that! I have one issue of Vanessa, the German comic which I can't read but has stories from Spellbound and Tammy. The same goes with the Patty book you sent, I can't truly read it but I have put my own interpretations on it! I just love it because it's Patty!
