Comics UK - Moving Home

The Comics UK website will be moving to a new hosting company at 12 noon (BST) on 22nd October 2012.
This will mean that the site will be unavailable for most of the day.
I've done a few dry-runs and all appears to have worked fine. But I'm sure that some little gremlin will make an appearance.
It may be famous last words, but I do not envisage a repeat of the last time we moved home, when more than half the site got lost forever

.

You've learned from your mistakes and made sure the new host supports the software used on both the site itself and the forum then? Let's hope for a smoother transition this time.
What's the next planned site update anyway?

Indeed, this forum has really grown but has stayed more or less friendly. I can remember a time when it would go for a week or more with no posts, but now there's activity every day!

All databases were transferred. Forums were transferred. Code was transferred. Email was transferred. Domain was transferred.
I believe the Forums and everything that went with them has been moved over successfully. This is why I have enabled them. Let me know is something is not right. i.e. missing posts, files, attachments etc.
Known Problem.
Some thumbnail images from the Annuals and Specials are missing. I will be rectifying those on 23rd October 2012. Time for bed.

Good job Al. One thing that concerns me is that some of our posts seem to be getting "adverts" linked to random words within the posts. The
Charlie Grigg thread is a case in point.

As expected, some things are working as smooth as a bumpy road.
The important thing is that the Forum appears to have escaped major catastrophe's like missing posts and files.
Colin - I don't get any adverts linked to random words. I believe it's a Firefox Browser app called Text Enhance that you may have inadvertently installed. See here
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/887190 on how to disable it.
I've noticed a few things not right within the Annuals and Specials section regarding some thumbnails not displaying correctly, although the larger image does.
The weirdest fault occurs on Chrome browsers. I use Chrome all the time, but when I click on Annuals it goes to
Page Not Found. The cause, case sensitivity within the URL.
http://comicsuk.co.uk/annuals.php will work.
http://comicsuk.co.uk/Annuals.php will not!! Because of the capital 'A' in the word annuals. These links work fine on all other browsers. Yep, I'm scratching my head with that one.
Also, at the moment, my body has decided to get very ill. I think it's to do with a dodgy piece of ham I ate last night, and positioning myself vertically spins the room around very fast and the bucket is never too far away. In fact, it's taken me three attempts to get this post written.
I'm off to lie down and contemplate solutions.

Al, good call. Found it. Killed it. Sorted.

That's odd.
http://comicsuk.co.uk/Forum/ works.
http://comicsuk.co.uk/forum/ does not.
I found the problem - it seems Linux has the same problem:

Your new host is to blame.

I haven't been able to access the forum since last night. I got in just now through clicking on a "history" screen grab (or whatever you call it) on my chrome screen. Thank god it was there.

Cant access the site on firefox. Works ok on my tablet and explorer though. Even a search on firefox then clicking the link brings up a page notfound for both the forum and main site.

I'm getting in as normal now so you can put that monkey wrench down.
