Eagle comic in the 1980's Query

When the Eagle was relaunched in the 80's there was a story that ran for a couple of editions that explained the link between the Dan Dare in the old Eagle and the Dan Dare in the new one.

Can anyone tell me:

1) What the link was

2) What issues covered this

I think you might be thinking of the 'Dare report' story that ran for 5 issues in 1982? This explained how WW2 fighter ace DD got to late '90s Britain and joined Space Fleet and went on to have all his adventures

1. the DD in the new Eagles was the great-great grandson in the original Eagle
2. 6/11/82-11/12/82
