Girls Comics Of Yesterday site

Post by Phoenix »

I am no longer able to access information on either the Girls Comics Of Yesterday site, or the UK Girls Comics site, prior to 5 December 2015. When I click on Technical Details the error message says 'This Connection Is Untrusted' - 'Get Me Out Of Here!' I think it may be a case of lapsed certification, as the recent certificate expired on 5 January 2016, which presumably can be restored. I have sent a PM to peace355 asking for some clarification, but she would appear to be very busy because it is still in my outbox. Is anybody else having similar problems?

I can get on the Girls Comics Of Yesterday with no problems but I can't seem to find the UK Girls Comic site.

Like you, Col, I can now access Girls Comics From Yesterday. It had NOT FOUND on it yesterday. However, when I click on my UK Girls Comics bookmark, which is the site I really want to look at again, the computer selects Girls Comics From Yesterday instead. Both sites are run by peace355, and she will not be able to read my PM until she logs in to ComicsUK and discovers that she has one. I've certainly not been made aware that she has closed down her UK Girls Comics site.

Back in August there were some changes to the two sites she runs - she merged the two. Explained here:
http://girlscomicsofyesterday.com/2015/ ... e-changes/

Does this explain what you were seeing, or was it something else do you think?
jintycomic.wordpress.com/ Excellent and weird stories from the past - with amazing art to boot.

Thank you for providing the link, comixminx. For the life of me I can't recall this merger. However, I have now found the information I was seeking so I no longer have anything to complain about. I will now delete the PM to peace355.

Hi, yes at the end of the summer I decided to merge the sites instead of paying for two domains. The UK girls comics should redirect to girlscomicsofyesterday, for the moment. I hadn't been aware of any problems getting on the site so hopefully that was just a temporary glitch.

If you are finding things harder to find on the merged site, or had suggestions to make it better I'd be happy to take things under advisement. On the other site I did have some comic contents indexed which I didn't upload on this site as I didn't think it was too popular and took up a lot of space but if that was something you were interested in or were missing I may look into uploading it again.

Can you please remind me what they were.

They were just basic information on an issue, included - cover, issue date, if there was a free gift and a list of contents (no details on any stories).

The posts on the story information seems to be be more popular so I diverted my time into those posts instead.

Yes, for me the information about the plot is the most important detail. In any case, the information about the starting and ending issue numbers and dates, where known, is included with the synopses.

The problem of access to peace355's Girls Comics From Yesterday site is still unresolved. It would appear to be caused by a failure on her part to renew the certificate for every entry up to the end of 2015. That part of her site is still untrusted. There is no point in my contacting her again as she ignores my PMs and emails. Could someone else attempt to persuade her, please. I can't see the point of anyone having a website if the public cannot access it safely.

Interestingly I have just tried to upload the two relevant explanatory files that this evening I saved to my desktop, but the comicsUK system has rejected them, the first because The extension htm is not allowed, the reason for the second rejection being The upload was rejected because the uploaded file was identified as a possible attack vector!!!!!!!!!!! Come on, peace355, for heaven's sake sort it out.

I am certainly not getting any untrusted certificate for her site. I know that I can get an untrusted certificate for Google when my wifi decides to play silly beggars, but that is a known issue with handshake protocols not synchronising. So a swift refresh or a reboot of my connection and it's all tickety-boo again.

Derek, can you post screenshots of the issues you are having? And if you can add in the URL, then we can see if I can replicate the issue and potentially offer a fix for you.

Phoenix I've replied to your pms, i even had the courtesy to tell you i was busy during the week and would look into it at the weekend, which I did and replied to you earlier today.

There is no "failure" on my part, I have renewed the girlscomicsofyesterday but I decided not to renew ukgirlscomics which may be why you were having some issues. If there are continuing problems I will look into it, and as I explained in my email will get someone more technically able than me to look into it further, but at my own look through I couldn't see why you were having problems

I don't appreciate the tone of this. I started the site as what was meant to be a fun side project. I don't get paid for it, and I have an actual job during the week which I can't just drop in order to meet your demands.

I have had nobody else saying they are having such issues, it may even possibly be a problem on your side of things, I don't know. I will look into the problems but cannot give you a time frame of when your specific issue will be sorted as other things in my life take priority.

I am not aware of any communication from you today. Where did you send it? It certainly wasn't an email or a PM. In fact you haven't contacted me since last December.
peace355 wrote:If there are continuing problems I will look into it, and as I explained in my email will get someone more technically able than me to look into it further
Thank you. Trust me, peace, there are problems, and all relate to entries on your site prior to 2016
peace355 wrote:I don't appreciate the tone of this.
Caused entirely through frustration.
peace355 wrote:I have had nobody else saying they are having such issues, it may even possibly be a problem on your side of things, I don't know.
I suspect that it is more likely that nobody else is trying to access last year's entries. Perhaps if colcool007 were to access your wordpress set-up, he might be able to see what I am complaining about because the problem doesn't affect his site or comixminx's, and it doesn't affect yours in 2016. In fact I would even consider paying your fee for a retrospective certificate to cover 2015 if you can't afford it.

I've pm'd you now as I didn't want to share your email that I replied to with everyone.

Also just for public information, in case people are wondering, I have looked at posts prior to 2016 and have not had the issue of getting untrusted site warnings. But I will look into it further. When I merged the UKgirlscomics.com with the site none of the comments came over so anyone trying to access old comments won't be able to I'm afraid.
