If anyone's interested, a new fortnightly comic/magazine Doctor Who: Battles in Time has just been launched. Originally tested as a trial run in selected areas it's now started again from No.1 nationally. (Issue 1 is ?1.50 trial price, ?2.50 thereafter.)
Contains light features and one 4 page comic strip.
This now means there are no less than three regular Doctor Who magazines available! A case of Who-verkill methinks.

I don't agree that three Who magazines is overkill.
One's for hardcore adult fans, one's for young children, and Battles In Time is some sort of collectible card game magazine, so I'd say they're all aiming at very different markets.
Anyway, as on ald scholl Whovian, it's great to see such interest in the old Doc.

Yes you're probably right, although I have a feeling DWBIT may bite into the sales of Adventures somewhat.

I'm with Lew - despite the different markets I can see Battles in Time and Doctor Who Adventures competing for an audience, to the ultimate benefit of neither. Despite the lacklustre design and editorial of the title Battles in Time probably has the edge thanks to promotional budget and the CCG element over DWA.

It does seem like overkill to me. the danger of diluting the brand is always a worry and as has been said they will no doubt rob sales from each other and potentially all end up being cancelled because of that.

And do you think they'll build on this success and outreach to launch an all-new non-TV related comic that could use that foothold in the market to build an sustain an independent readership?
Oh, what an idealistic fool I am.

Probably not because it's published by the BBC. Realistically, why would they shovel money into something that's not in their interest when they can produce another mag connected to one of their shows?
